And yes… she’s also a bride-to-be! 💍🐶

Katie’s fiancé and Amelias fiance are best friends, which is actually how Katie and I met about 4 years ago! It’s so special to now have her joining the Mia’s Muttz team. ❤️

Here’s a little bit about Katie:

“Hi! I’m Katie Steelman! I’ve been around animals all my life, mainly dogs. I absolutely love animals and have a passion for taking care of them. I’m both a dog AND cat person! I had a neighbor for a few years who had a ton of cats, and they definitely rubbed off on me! 🐱

I also have a passion for taking care of people. I’m currently a nursing student at The Christ College of Nursing and have been involved in healthcare for the past few years. I enjoy advocating for others, being compassionate, and teaching others.”

We’re so excited to have Katie helping with check-ins! 🥰 She brings such a caring heart, a love for animals, and a passion for taking care of others—which makes her a perfect fit for Mia’s Muttz.

🐾💍 A BIG UPDATE FROM MIA’S MUTTZ 💍🐾

As many of you know, I’m getting married in October! ❤️ With this exciting new chapter comes a few changes to Mia’s Muttz as I make more room for my personal life and our new life together.

Starting now:

🐶 NO MORE OVERNIGHTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2026
I will not be accepting or scheduling any additional overnight stays for the rest of the year.

🐾 NO NEW CLIENTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2026
I’m also closing my books to new clients through the end of the year.

❤️ CURRENT CLIENTS:
I will continue honoring existing commitments and taking care of the wonderful pets and families who are already on my schedule.

This isn’t goodbye to Mia’s Muttz! It’s simply a little “pause and regroup” while I navigate being a newlywed and figure out what my business will look like moving forward. 🥰

I am incredibly grateful for every client who has trusted me with their pets, recommended me to friends, supported my business, and allowed Mia’s Muttz to grow.

1. 🩷 Senior dogs can still learn new tricks! Their learning abilities don’t disappear with age—they may just need a little more patience.

Because you know Mia’s Muttz… but how well do you know Mia?! 😂💕

1️⃣ I’m a HUGE animal lover — obviously. 🐶🐱 Animals have always been a huge part of my life.

2️⃣ 🐾 I’ve been working with animals for years, and I’m constantly learning more about animal behavior.

3️⃣ 🎓 I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology — which actually comes in handy A LOT when working with animals AND people!

4️⃣ 🐕 I can talk about dogs for hours. Seriously… HOURS. 😂

5️⃣ 🐱 I’m absolutely obsessed with my cats. They are basically my roommates who don’t pay rent.

6️⃣ ❤️ I genuinely care about the animals I care for. My clients aren’t “just pets” — I get attached!

7️⃣ 🧠 Animal behavior is one of my favorite things to learn about. I love figuring out why an animal is doing something instead of just correcting the behavior.

8️⃣ 💍 I’m getting married in 2026! So yes… when I’m not working with your pets, I’m probably doing something wedding-related. 😂

Happy National dog day

Salem was a huge part of my grief recovery after my grandma died. I was a caregiver 5 yrs - sometimes full time , and I worked full time.

After she was gone I lost my purpose- and Salem gave me a reason to come home and get up every morning. I struggled a lot in the evenings after my grandmother died. I didn't have anything to do at night before bed, which led me down a bad path for a short while. But God...

After I adopted Salem, I went on walks and discovered my love for Hiking thanks to Salem.

We almost made it to his 13th Birthday.
His GOTCHA DAY is this week!

Mia works at a kennel on the weekends—and has been doing so for a long time! 🐶❤️

Not only is it a third source of income in this crazy economy, but it also gives me the opportunity to stay hands-on and keep up with my dog behavior, handling, and care skills.

Working with different dogs, personalities, and behaviors keeps me learning—and that experience comes right back to the care I provide through Mia’s Muttz! 🐕✨
