The Animal Adoption Foundation is a non-profit, no-kill shelter for dogs and cats that have been abused, abandoned, or found as strays. AAF provides a safe and humane environment for dogs and cats that are waiting to be adopted. Get ready for something special, viewers, and meet Lemonita, the AAF Saturday cat! What’s so special you ask? Why pretty little Lemonita is a short-haired tuxedo bobtail! In case you’re wondering, Lemonita’s bobtail is not the result of an amputation. It is instead the result of a fairly rare genetic mutation. In fact, among the general mixed-breed feline population, only about 1% to 2% of all mixed-breed cats carry the genetic mutation that gives them a naturally bobbed tail. So, rest assured, Lemonita is a VERY special lady.

The background of this four-year-old girl is something of a mystery. She was found running the streets of a nearby town and was rescued and placed in a local shelter. After staying there for a while, she was then transferred to the Animal Adoption Foundation shelter, where she is now waiting to find her forever home.

Lemonita can be a bit shy at first but have patience and you will get to see her affectionate side. Like most every cat, she loves getting chin scratches and cheek rubs. But she especially likes getting scratched at the base of her tail. And if you really want to make a hit with her, bring her a squeezable treat, because she loves them!

Treats and scratches are great, but the greatest gift of all for Lemonita would be to finally find her forever home. Meet our Assistant Director, Tatumn! 🐾

Here is what she has to say about her new position:

“I am over the moon excited for this new chapter in life and to be apart of this team!

I have been with AAF since 2022 when I first started working here as a kennel staff member. Throughout the last 4 years I have joined I-CARE, our social media team, the Events Committee and have taken part in many other side quests along the way!

Through the Animal Adoption Foundation I have found a community of likeminded animal lovers who I have the privilege of calling my friends and family. I have laughed, smiled, cried and had the ultimate privilege of loving hundreds of animals in search of their forever homes. The volunteers and staff here have taught me so much and I’m grateful to be alongside them serving homeless animals in our community.”

Are you passionate about animals and looking for a rewarding part-time job? We are looking to add to our kennel staff team!

Requirements: 🐶
• Must be at least 16 years or older
• Reliable transportation
• Must be able to lift at least 50lbs at times
• Morning and evening shift flexibility
• Weekend availability
• Ability to work individually & in a team with precision

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 🐈
• Feeding animals and administering medications (cats and dogs)
• Cleaning kennels (indoor & outdoor)
• Cleaning litter boxes & cat rooms
• Washing dishes
• Sweeping, mopping, and tidying spaces
• Overall maintaining a high standard of sanitation

Happy Tails Monday is here, and ohhh what a sweet little lineup of lucky kitties we’re celebrating this week! 💛🐾

Six fabulous felines have found their forever homes, and each story has its own special sparkle:

Newton kicked things off, heading home to begin his next great adventure—no doubt bringing plenty of curiosity and charm along with him.

Sunny truly lived up to his name! His story warmed our hearts extra bright—his mama flew in from Florida just to bring him home, after already falling in love with two AAF alumni. Now that’s what we call a reunion worth traveling for! ☀️✈️

Chris P. Bacon and Cosmos hit the adoption jackpot together! These two buddies get to keep their friendship going strong as they start their new chapter side by side. Double the love, double the fun! 💕

Pua found the perfect match right where he started—adopted by a friend of his foster family. We absolutely love when those connections turn into forever homes!

And last but certainly not least, Fudge Stripe has officially been scooped up into a loving home—sweet name, even sweeter ending. 🍪

From joyful reunions to bonded buddies and foster connections, this week was full of heart. Thank you to everyone who adopted, supported, and helped these amazing cats find their happily ever afters.

What a ridiculously fun weekend we’ve had! 🎉

🎶 We started off Thursday night at the Uptown Music Concert in Oxford where our volunteers had the chance to connect with people in our community and adoptable Buck stole all the ladies attention! 🎶

🛍️ On Friday night volunteers started set up in preparation for our 2 day long Shop Our Shelter sale. This Saturday and Sunday sale helped us raise funds for our animals while providing pet owners amazing deals on essentials! 🛍️

🧘 We also had Cat Yoga on Saturday where our kitties got some much needed socialization. Adoptable Koa was even found participating in the actual yoga poses! When we say “Cat Yoga” we really mean it! 🧘

Thank you to our devoted volunteers for making these events and experiences possible, and thank you to our wonderful community for your continued support!
