Meet Bixby — a 5-year-old adventure-ready mixed breed (German Shepherd, Staffordshire Terrier, Cattle Dog, Golden Retriever) looking for his perfect home.

Bixby has been living with a professional trainer for the past 4 months, putting in the work to become the best version of himself—and it shows.

He has a strong obedience foundation and knows sit, down, stay, come, heel, and place in low to high distraction environments. He is fully off-leash trained using an e-collar, walks beautifully on leash, and is the kind of dog you can take anywhere as your adventure partner. Completely potty trained and LOVES his crate. He thrives with some structure and rules in the home and routine.

Bixby is highly food motivated, loves a good game of fetch, enjoys chewing on a bone, and absolutely lives for car rides and exploring new hiking trails. While he is 5 years old, he still has plenty of energy and would thrive in an active home that prioritizes daily fulfillment and structure. One of his favorite games is chasing a herding ball.

In the past, Bixby struggled with accepting new people into the home, and delivery drivers were a big trigger. After consistent training, he has made huge progress. Currently, his biggest challenge is mild barking at delivery trucks outside the window. Everyone who has entered the home recently has been welcomed and quickly becomes his friend.

He can be social with other dogs, but he has a rough-and-rowdy play style. Because of this, proper introductions are required to ensure a good match with any potential dog companions.

Bixby is fully muzzle trained for dog-to-dog interactions, and is required for vet visits. He has a specific, structured protocol to ensure a positive and low-stress experience when going to the vet or for nail trims.

He is up to date on all vaccinations and neutered.

Bixby is looking for a confident, active owner who understands structure, enjoys training, and wants a loyal, fun, and capable dog by their side. In the right home, he is going to be an incredible companion.

Free training to the next adopter to make the transition run smooth.

We’ve Teamed Up with North Point Pets!

Coastal K9 Training & Behavior has partnered with in Cheshire to bring indoor dog training classes to the CK9 pcommunity!

This partnership allows us to offer structured training in a comfortable indoor environment — perfect for working dogs through distractions while staying consistent with training regardless of weather. What an added bonus that you can also spend time with their staff asking nutritional questions before or after class!

The first class I’m offering was a popular one we held at our old facility. Getting your dog off leash trained with the use of an ecollar!
We will focus on building:
• Reliable obedience
• Clear communication between dog and owner
• Real-world skills that translate outside the classroom

We’re excited to work alongside North Point Pets and continue expanding opportunities for dog owners to build better relationships with their dogs.

Registration for this class is available on my website!

We’ve picked up a lot of new followers lately… so let’s reintroduce ourselves.

I’m Shannon — the trainer behind Coastal K9. I am a certified police officer and handled a police k9 for 6 years prior to starting CK9. I’ve now been training pet dogs for 8 years, technically making it a total of 14 years in the dog world.

I work with the dogs most people struggle with:
fearful dogs, reactive dogs, aggressive dogs, and the ones owners feel completely stuck with.

But here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear…

Dog training isn’t really about training the dog.
It’s about the human.

My job is to show owners where the breakdown is happening, create structure, and build real communication between dog and handler.

No cookie-cutter methods.No ego.No shortcuts.
Just honest training that actually works in the real world.

When Im not training dogs, I love being outside — beach, hiking, boat trips, playing any sport, traveling and For fun I decoy for police K9s with Corey.

Movement, structure, and purpose are a lifestyle for me — not just something I teach clients.

If you’re new here — welcome.
And to everyone who’s been following the journey — I appreciate you more than you know.

To know me, is to know Athena.

She still holds a spot in the top five most aggressive dogs I’ve worked with.
Before she came to me, she had bitten multiple people.
At one point, she bit me too.

She is not dog-friendly—
though she chose Delilah as her dog and has the ability to coexist in a group class full of dogs, or a pack walk.

Slowly, and deliberately, her world has expanded.
New people.
New dogs.
Shared space without pressure.
Interaction without expectation.

Progress with dogs like this is never loud or fast.
But when a breakthrough happens, it opens doors that once didn’t exist.

To know me, is to know Athena.

This progress was built through structure, management, and informed decision-making.
Muzzles are tools—not failures—and are used when appropriate.
Every dog earns freedom at their own pace.

We are hopeful to get to make more and more human friends for 2026.

I was inspired by the great to use my treat and train a little bit more. This time I put Delilah to work and help me train Luca with his place duration.

Still a work in progress to put it on cue. It was free shaped so she just loves Booping that button!
