Hike with Mike & Puff: Mr. Puff D. Dog is featured in "Blaine County Social Notes"
"Puff D. Dog of Hailey hosted an elegant outing for visiting friends last Thursday. Guests included Michael Healy of Hailey, Idaho, and two of his nieces, Mary Jonas of Minneapolis and Maureen Healy of Portland, Oregon.
The day was especially beautiful and mild. Mrs. Jonas enjoyed close ties with Mr. Dog as the little group strolled among the rows of stubble on the bone-dry farmer's field on the way to Democrat Gulch.
Going up the quaint old mining trail to the ridge, the group saw a handsome pronghorn to the north, but no other wildlife was in sight, so they moved right along, stopping for breaks where Mr. Dog enjoyed special treats and laps of water.
Seated at a cozy spot overlooking Mr.Dog's vast land holdings, more treats were enjoyed and the conversation drifted among several diverting topics, including the three horses with riders in the Democrat valley far below.
On the ridge Mr. Dog enjoyed some quiet time with friends.
On the way down Maureen enjoyed especially close ties with Mr. Dog, who, as the party moved on toward his domicile, showed signs of urgency. Belatedly Mr. Healy noticed and took over the ties. It was a pleasant element of the outing that each visitor enjoyed some one-on-one time with Mr. Dog.
The day ended with a return to Mr. Dog's abode, where his household staff welcomed them all. The guests exclaimed at how pleasant the outing had been."
