“The mission of Jacobs’ Ladder Therapeutic Riding Center is to provide equine related activities to individuals with special needs. Children as young as 4 years old may participate, as well as adults who desire to strengthen their physical bodies, build their self-esteem, gain a sense of independence, learn new skills & make new friends.” Jacobs' Ladder provides therapeutic horseback riding to individuals in the South Georgia & North Florida area. There are no employees, but we rely on our wonderful volunteers to provide services to our approximately 60 riders a week. Established in 1999, Jacobs' Ladder Therapeutic Riding Center was founded by Glenn & Leslie Jacobs. Leslie is a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, (PATH International) formerly known as the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. Jacobs' Ladder goes through reaccreditation every five years & has been a Premier Center since 2003. Kristen Novack is also a PATH Instructor & manages many of the lessons here. Therapeutic horseback riding provides many benefits to persons with differing challenges in life, whether they be physical, behavioral, or emotional. The gait of a horse is similar to the human walk, it helps strengthen spine and pelvic muscles, improves posture and coordination, and increases joint mobility. Along with physical therapeutic benefits, horseback riding gives people a feeling of control, a sense of accomplishment and increased self-esteem.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we look back at one of the most moving tributes ever shown on television.

Just five months after the attacks, Budweiser aired a commercial titled “Respect” during Super Bowl ###VI on February 3, 2002.

It contained no dialogue. There were no actors delivering emotional speeches and no conventional attempt to advertise a product.

Instead, viewers watched the famous Clydesdales leave a snow-covered farm and begin a solemn journey towards New York City. They travelled through quiet streets, crossed the Brooklyn Bridge and eventually reached a snowy field overlooking lower Manhattan.

There, with the altered skyline visible in the distance, the eight horses slowly lowered their heads together in a silent bow.

The screen then faded to four simple words:

“We’ll never forget.”

The original advertisement was deliberately broadcast nationally only once. Its restraint made it extraordinarily powerful, and the response was overwhelming. Viewers across America were moved by how eight horses, without a single spoken word, seemed to express the grief and remembrance of an entire nation.

The commercial was later revisited with updated anniversary versions, but the snowy original from 2002 remains the one many people remember most vividly.

Twenty-five years after the attacks, the Clydesdales’ silent gesture continues to move new generations—and its message remains unchanged.
