🐱💙 Tomorrow Is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day! 💙🐱
Unfortunately, our office is closed on Saturdays, so we figured we would celebrate one day early and share some helpful tips while the office is open!
Let's be honest...most cats don't exactly wake up thinking, "You know what sounds fun today? A car ride!" 😹
The good news? A little preparation can make vet visits much less stressful for both you and your kitty!
Here are a few of our favorite Fear Free tips:
🐾 Make the carrier a happy place. Leave it out at home with a cozy blanket, treats, or favorite toys so it doesn't only appear on "vet day."
🐾 Try calming aids. We love Feliway® pheromone spray, and we have pheromone-treated towels available at check-in.
🐾 Ask about pre-visit medications. Some cats benefit from medications given at home before their appointment to help reduce travel and hospital anxiety.
🐾 Skip the pre-appointment snacks. A hungry kitty is often much more interested in accepting treats during the exam! (And yes, we have plenty!)
🐾 Stay calm yourself. Cats are experts at picking up on our emotions, so your calm demeanor can help them feel more secure.
At NorthPaws, we're committed to creating a Fear Free experience for every patient. If your cat gets especially nervous, let us know—we're happy to tailor their visit to help make it as positive as possible.

🐈 Now for the important question... Is your cat a purr-fessional traveler or a tiny furry tornado on vet day? Tell us below—and don't forget to share a photo of your feline friend in the comments! 📸💙

🐾 HELP US COMFORT OUR FURRY PATIENTS! 🐾

We’re collecting clean, gently used towels and washcloths for our veterinary patients. These simple donations help provide comfort, warmth, and gentle restraint during exams, treatments, recovery, and hospitalization. 🐶🐱💙

🧺 Bath towels
🧼 Hand towels
🐾 Washcloths

Have extras at home? Give them a second life by donating them to our clinic! Every towel helps make a nervous or recovering patient feel a little more comfortable. We are happy to take donations during our regular office hours.

At this time, we are not in need of bed sheets or blankets—thank you for understanding!

Thank you for helping us care for the animals who come through our doors! 🐾💙

Have you considered whether your pet may need insurance? 🐾

Pet insurance works a little differently than human health insurance. Depending on the company and policy, you can choose coverage for accidents, illnesses, wellness/preventative care, or a combination of these. Policies may also vary based on your pet’s age, breed, and individual needs.

🐶🐱 One important thing to know: With pet insurance, it’s generally best to start coverage as early as possible. Many policies exclude conditions that are considered pre-existing, so enrolling before a medical condition develops may provide more coverage options later.

Because there are so many companies and plans available, we encourage you to research each company individually and carefully review what their policies cover, exclude, and reimburse to determine what’s the best fit for you and your pet.
Some commonly used pet insurance companies include Trupanion, Nationwide, Pets Best, and others.

💳 How does payment work? Unlike human health insurance, you are responsible for paying our office directly at the time services are provided. We do not accept payment directly from pet insurance companies. After payment, you can submit your invoices to your insurance company for reimbursement according to your policy.

Have questions about pet insurance or want to debunk some of the common myths? Here are two helpful articles from pet insurance companies:

🔗 ASPCA Pet Health Insurance: https://www.aspcapetinsurance.com/research-and-compare/more-articles/9-myths-about-pet-insurance/

🔗 Trupanion: https://www.trupanion.com/pet-blog/article/myths-about-pet-insurance

🦜 For our exotic patients: Coverage for birds, rabbits, rodents, and other exotic pets may be more limited and varies by company. At the time of this post, we are aware that Nationwide offers coverage for some types of exotic pets. Be sure to check with the insurance company directly for current eligibility and coverage details.

As always, we’re happy to answer general questions and help you understand how pet insurance works—but the insurance company is the best source for specific policy details and coverage decisions. 🐾

🎉What's better than one? Two! We have another work anniversary to celebrate🎉

Today marks 1 full year with our assistant Emily!

Emily may be quiet and reserved at first, but once she opens up, her kindness and sense of humor shine through. A true country girl at heart, she spends her time outside the clinic raising pigs and bringing that same hardworking spirit to our team every day. 🐷🌾

We're so thankful to have her on our team and can't wait to watch her continue to grow in her veterinary career. Thank you for all of your hard work—we're lucky to have you! 💙🐾

🎉 Happy 5-Year Anniversary to our AMAZING MIKAYLA! 🎉

Today we're celebrating 5 amazing years with one of the friendly faces that keeps our clinic running smoothly! We can't imagine our front desk without her.
From the moment you walk through our doors, she's making sure our lobby is welcoming, our patients are comfortable, and our clients feel right at home. And if you happen to have a German Shepherd or an Oriental Shorthair, she's probably coming out to say hello and give them a little extra love! 🐕🐈 Her kindness, attention to detail, and calm presence make a difference every single day.

When she's not at the clinic, she's happiest spending time outdoors. She frequently opens her home to foster cats and can often be found hiking or taking pups from the humane society out on walks to help them build confidence and enjoy a little adventure.

Thank you for five years of dedication, compassion, and for being such an important part of our team. We're so lucky to have you, and we can't wait to see what the next five years bring! 💙🐾
