We provide complete medical and surgical care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets and smaller pets. 🎉🐾 Happy Gotcha Day to Our Grumpy Greeter, Eliza Thornberry! 🐾🎉
What a way to round out our week of staff celebration- today's anniversary date of our favorite feline gracing our veterinary office with her presence—and honestly, we’re not sure who adopted whom. 😹
Eliza may occasionally wear her signature mean-muggins expression, but don’t let that face fool you. Behind those serious eyes is one very sweet girl who absolutely LOVES soaking up attention from our clients. 💕🐱
She’s also mastered the art of strategic veterinary-office survival. While chaos unfolds around her, Eliza somehow always knows exactly when to disappear to a safe vantage point and let everyone else handle the madness. 😂
Of course, there are some days when we’re convinced she’s not avoiding the canine chaos… she’s taunting it. A perfectly placed stare. A leisurely stroll just out of reach. Maybe even a little tail flick for emphasis. We see you, Eliza. 👀🐶
No veterinary office would be complete without an office cat, and we’re so glad ours is Eliza Thornberry. She keeps us entertained, keeps us humble, and reminds us that sometimes the most important member of the team is the one who contributes primarily through naps, judgmental looks, and client cuddles. 😹❤️

Managing a veterinary clinic is a rewarding but challenging job. It means taking care of more than just animals—it also means supporting veterinarians, helping staff members, comforting pet owners, and making sure the clinic runs smoothly every day.

A veterinary clinic manager helps organize appointments, oversee daily operations, manage supplies and budgets, and make sure the team has what it needs to provide excellent care. They also help create a welcoming environment where animals feel safe and clients feel heard and supported.

Some days are joyful, filled with healthy pets, successful treatments, and happy families. Other days can be emotionally difficult when animals are seriously ill, emergencies arise, or families face heartbreaking decisions. A clinic manager must balance compassion with leadership, problem-solving, and the practical demands of running a business.

Thank you for being the heart of our hospital and the welcoming voice and face that so many people turn to during some of their most difficult, emotional, and joyful moments.

You are often the first person a client speaks to when they are worried about their beloved pet, the calm voice on the other end of a stressful phone call, and the compassionate person who offers comfort when someone is facing a difficult diagnosis or saying goodbye to a cherished family member. You celebrate the happy moments, share in the worries, and offer kindness when it is needed most.

Your job is so much more than answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking clients in and out, and keeping the day running smoothly. You juggle countless responsibilities, manage unexpected challenges, and keep everything moving behind the scenes, often while carrying the emotions of others on your shoulders. You do all of this while striving to make every client feel heard, welcomed, and cared for.

Please know that even when your hard work happens behind the scenes, it matters more than words can express. You are an essential part of every successful appointment, every comforting conversation, and every little moment that makes a client feel they are in the right place.

A veterinary assistant is the heart and helping hands of a veterinary hospital. ❤️🐾 They provide compassionate care to animals, support the veterinary team, and help create a safe, comfortable experience for patients and their families.

A veterinary assistant’s job goes far beyond helping with appointments. It requires compassion, patience, teamwork, physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm in both joyful and heartbreaking moments.

What does a veterinary assistant do?

· 🐾 Provides hands-on patient care: Feeds, walks, cleans, and comforts animals, making sure they are safe and treated with kindness.

· 🩺 Assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians: Helps restrain and position patients for examinations and procedures, prepares supplies, and supports the medical team during treatments.

· ❤️ Offers comfort and reassurance: Helps calm frightened, anxious, or painful animals and handles every patient with gentleness, patience, and respect.

· 🧹 Maintains a clean and safe environment: Sanitizes exam rooms, kennels, treatment areas, and equipment to help prevent the spread of disease and protect patients and staff.

· 💉 Prepares for medical procedures: Gathers instruments and supplies, helps prepare patients, and assists with procedures within their training and the responsibilities permitted by law and hospital policy.

· 👀 Observes and communicates: Notices changes in an animal’s behavior, appetite, breathing, comfort, or condition and promptly shares concerns with the veterinary team.

· 🤝 Supports clients and coworkers: Helps appointments run smoothly, communicates kindly with pet owners, and works alongside receptionists, veterinary technicians, veterinarians, and other team members.

· 💔 Helps during difficult moments: Provides gentle care to critically ill patients and offers a calm, compassionate presence to families experiencing fear, uncertainty, or the loss of a beloved pet.

Veterinarians are important because animals cannot tell us with words when they are sick or hurting. Veterinarians use their knowledge, skills, and compassion to understand what animals need and help them feel better.

Veterinarians do many important things:

· 🩺 Examine animals to check their health and find out what is wrong.

· 💊 Treat sick and injured animals by giving medicine and providing medical care.

· ❤️ Save lives by performing surgeries and responding to emergencies.

· 💉 Give vaccinations to protect animals from diseases.

· 🐶 Prevent illness by teaching pet owners how to care for their animals.

· 🐱 Comfort animals when they are scared, hurt, or nervous.

You may have noticed one of our doctors missing from the office in the middle of September—and for good reason! Dr. De Meo and her Icelandic Sheepdog, Eldí, made it to the AKC FAST CAT 7th National Invitational all the way in Branson, Missouri! 🎉🐾

Eldí had an incredible time and earned:

🏅 Four Qualifying Ribbons
🏅 One Finalist Q Ribbon
🏅 The FCAT9 title
🏅 2026 Best of Breed for Icelandic Sheepdogs in the Invitational Finals

Each completed preliminary run earns a “Q”ualifying ribbon, and only the top two dogs in each breed advance to the finals—making Eldí’s Finalist Q a very exciting achievement!

The FCAT9 title is awarded after earning 5,000 points, with points based on running speed in miles per hour. And to top it all off, Eldí was named Best of Breed for Icelandic Sheepdogs in the Invitational Finals!

We don’t have the final overall results yet, but we are so proud of Eldí’s incredible athletic achievement. Congratulations to this amazing team! 💙🐶
