⭐️ These clients get a gold star for their quick thinking with this case!!
⭐️ Cameo was walking out for a lesson and he suddenly refused to walk and was holding his right hind foot in the air. With quick action, a nail was found in the bottom of his foot. After a few texts to PenMar Equine, the owner quickly placed a wooden block across his heels to prevent him from pushing the nail further into his foot. This allowed us to see exactly where the nail was located. Luckily, no synovial structures were involved, and he healed quickly!
⭐️ Nails or other sharp objects that pe*****te the foot can enter the coffin joint, navicular bursa or tendon sheath. Infection in any of these structures can be career-ending and even possibly life-threatening if not treated quickly and aggressively.
⭐️ If you ever find a nail, screw or anything else stuck in a foot, do NOT pull it out! Give us a call, and we can help direct the next steps.
