PLEASE READ, DONATE & SHARE WIDELY… Understand what is happening inside that trailer, and how They ALL Deserve to Live. We Can Do This TOGETHER!

HE WILL BE GONE FOREVER

Monday he will be loaded onto a commercial trailer and taken on a grueling 1075 mile ride to Canadian slaughter.

Two days of transport.

We used to say Canadian slaughter trucks were more humane than Mexico. 13-16 hour rides up through New York vs days on a trailer headed west.

Thats no longer true.

Now it’s 24+ hours locked inside an aluminum box in blinding heat (they used to ship only overnight to beat the heat, they can’t do that now).

This a new route for slaughter bound horses coming from PA to Canada, but it is NOT to other states.

In fact it’s been used regularly by Ohio and Michigan killbuyers for decades. PA is just now going to start using it and perhaps even we will see cooperation and collaboration between the kill buyers from multiple states that means MORE horses will ship.

I keep reading that “profit margins for the kill buyer are now made slim” by the closure of the New York route.

How naive.

Scarcity creates rising prices and demand. This is simple economics.

Economics don’t suddenly not apply here because certain people don’t want them to or don’t think they will. That’s just ignorant.

No— the killbuyers will continue making millions from the plant sending horses to slaughter.

As he has for the last two decades.

Millions.

Way more than “rescues padding their pockets” can ever afford to pay.

Don’t believe me?

Just look at the facts.

75 horses left for slaughter last week on the last “more humane” route possible until its worked out in the court systems.

One load was intercepted and 50 horses went over the border to be killed.

Nobody talks about those 50.

They’re all dead now.

What if we could intercept the NEXT 75 horses before they were loaded, tagged and shipped?

Those 75 now have ZERO chance of interception once they’re loaded.

Their only chance to be saved is RIGHT NOW.

If you donate $25– we can bring home the next 75.

Every last one of them.

That’s the goal.

It should be the goal of every single rescue and supporter.

No horse deserves slaughter and it’s proven they can and will go.

And now things have gotten worse for them.

I’ve pi**ed a lot of people off saying that because it’s true.

I don’t want to p**s people off or create division, but I won’t lie to my donors and say this is a clear cut victory.

A large part of why people support us on a larger scale than other players is my refusal to speak to my donors like they’re children, or tell them fairy tales.

It’s wonderful that 25 horses were saved.

But 50 weren’t.

And now thousands more have a terrible route to travel.

It is my duty to report that to my donors.

They deserve the whole truth, not just what makes us look good because an interception IS good for CCR.

It means that other people and rescues agree those horses needed help.

It means they should agree that these horses ALSO need and deserve help.

One can’t be true without the other ALSO being true.

No horse deserves to be saved more than any other.

They all deserve it.

Conditions for shipment are worse on a longer journey for ANY animal. That’s a fact.

Maybe this new route is temporary… maybe litigation will come. I sure hope so. I’d rather them not travel to slaughter at all, but I’m also transparent enough and woman enough to admit if they HAVE to go I’d rather they go through New York than Michigan— it’s a 400+ mile difference.

Maybe litigation is coming federally which WOULD be a clearer cut victory*.

But I can absolutely guarantee it won’t come fast enough for the horse in the photo, or for any of the horses that come through here in the rest of 2026.

While lobbyist and litigators do their best to make it illegal, we will storm the castle and try to save the innocent lives caught in the crossfire.

They deserve to live.

Donate.

Share.

Fight for them.

*I believe we do need a solid plan in place BEFORE we make exportation to slaughter illegal federally for the horses it will affect, and I don’t currently have a perfect answer to what that looks like and my personal opinion is that I think that’s a large part of the hold up on the SAFE act for non supporters of it. I feel like we have to a duty to be transparent enough to tell you that. What I think and hope is a collation of rescues like CCR funded and ready to help those animals— how to make that nationwide, I’m still working on. I am getting education from economists and experts in this field and do not currently have tangible and workable solutions to share just yet.
