Word is already spreading but I wanted to let everyone know that I am moving from Gustavus and I will be working to wind down my Veterinary practice over the next 2 weeks. It has been an honor to serve this community and Gustavus will always be near and dear to my heart but it is time to move on. I am sad to leave but excited for the adventure ahead.

Wanted to make everyone aware of significant changes to requirements for bringing a dog into the US taking effect August 1st. It is my understanding that this will apply to dogs entering Alaska through Canada as well as dogs transiting through Canada and re-entering Alaska or the lower 48.

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

Many thanks to all who donated to and participated in the auction and special thanks to Krystal and Val for organizing! Hopefully we will be able to put the funds towards helping with some spay and neuter services here.

Generally I recommend leaving injured wildlife alone, however the middle of the dock grate was not the safest place for this juvenile peregrine falcon this morning so it was moved to a safer location where hopefully it may be able to rest and recover.

A few updates:

Glacier Bay Veterinary Services now has a new home!! The cabin on the corner of Dolly Varden and Sand Lance.

With a more permanent set up I will also now be open more regular hours.
Mondays: 9:30am to 1pm
Wednesdays: 9:30am - 1pm
Thursdays: 9:30am - 1pm
Appointments and house calls still available other days by request

I will be out of town Oct 6th - Oct 19th (Oct 17 - 19th I will be covering for Tongass Vet in Juneau).

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be out of town May 30th - June 13th. If you need an appointment or any refills before I leave I will be at the Community Center this Wednesday May 18th from 9:30am - 1pm and Wednesday May 25 from 9:30am - 1pm.

Also, these guys seem to be out in force so be aware!
