Did you know….
Unwashed Fresh eggs can sit on your counter at room temp for 3-4 weeks! They have a special coating called “bloom” that protects them from the air. Make sure to wash them right before you use them!
If you wash them, the are good in the fridge for 2-3 months!
Commercial eggs are generally 30-45 days old by the time they get to the grocery store and should always be kept cold.
If you are unsure if your eggs are good, you can put them in a bowl of water. They should sink to the bottom and remain there. If they float, they should be thrown away.
We sell eggs for $3/dozen. If you’ve never had a fresh egg, boy are you missing out!
(Side note: Fresh eggs’ whites do not “hold together” like a commercial egg, they will spread out in a pan when you cook them. I once had someone throw a bunch out while cooking because they thought it mean they were bad. Not bad, just fresh!!)
The Farm Stand will be open from 8-2 on Saturday, October 24. 774 Bob Stiles Rd, Gurley AL
