4 locations, 7 cats, and 1 exhausted trapper. I started Wednesday afternoon with a carload of empty traps and a mapped-out plan. Late Thursday evening, I finally finished up. It takes a lot of physical work, driving, and time—two trips to Westside, two trips to Huntsville, and two trips to every trapping site—but it’s such a great feeling when it’s all done!

​There is a specific kind of peace that comes with feeding colonies across town knowing you’ll never stumble upon a surprise litter. You feed them with a clear conscience and a feeling of relief.

​Now, even for these two newest colonies, I have peace in my heart knowing they can live in harmony. They’ll never have to struggle, fight, spread diseases, or give birth to more homeless cats. They can just simply enjoy their lives being cats. 🐾

​We want to give this same quality of life to so many others, but donations are currently super low. We simply don't have the funding to fight this on our own. Please join us in our mission to make a better world for these cats who have already been failed once by humans.

Busy busy busy

The 10 kittens we were supposed to intake Monday turned into 8. Unfortunately two passed away before they got to us.

These babies have been through a lot. In fact two for certain, possibly three will have to have enucleation surgery. They've been so sick for so long, some have lost their eyes. They were all on the verge, not far behind the two who didn't make it. They had pale gums, matted eyes, and of course fleas and worms. Immediately upon intake they remaining 8 were treated for everything and put on antibiotics & eye ointment. Of course they were all given dewormer, revaluation, and ponazuril (full parasite flush) They have sure come a long way since Tuesday evening but are still sneezing a good bit with drainage. Our new foster moms Lauren & Tori have taken on the challenge of caring for them daily until they are ready for spay/neuters. This was a big task as all 8 are on meds. I must say, these ladies are doing a wonderful amazing job! I'm so glad to have them on our rescue team!!

Everyone meet our new cat friend Blue! He's a friendly stray who came up to our new foster mom's house injured with scratches & deep puncture wounds on his neck & behind his ears from what I suspect male on male fighting. He's been on clindamycin 75mg per day.

Our foster mom is doing a fantastic job helping him adjust to the good life, being indoors, away from danager, and getting endless attention/love! Turns out he loves to be loved on. Day 1 he was scared but day 2 he figured out this is a pretty good thing he has going on. The videos of him being extra sweet & loving are undeniably what he's always wanted, even if he didn't know it. Blue will make someone a wonderful pet!!

He will be ready for adoption soon, he gets neutered tomorrow along with several others going for spay/neuter tomorrow.

We have sweet bottle babies, nursing kittens, we had 7 fixed today, another litter incoming tomorrow, 3 bottle babies on the way this weekend, and 10 kittens coming in Monday of various ages. Not to mention the other precious cats & kittes who are already in our program. Every single cat & kitten gets at least one round of protocol meds & some need additional care, medical attention, meds such as antibiotics, terrymicyn, plus the cost of cat/kitten food.

🛑 FREE HEALTH HACK FOR YOUR CATS!! 🥩
​DON'T LET THAT BEEF/CHICKEN JUICE GO TO WASTE—YOUR CAT NEEDS IT!

​People at the grocery store are often amazed (or amused) when they see me buying rotisserie chickens for my cats. It’s not just for my personal cats; it’s for the colonies I feed as well.

Here’s why:

​Cats are one of the few mammals that cannot make their own Taurine, which is critical for a long, healthy life.

​Why is Taurine a big deal?
​❤️ It prevents a deadly heart condition called DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy).
​👁️ It protects their vision.
​🛡️ It stabilizes their immune system.

​Cats can NOT live without it, and their bodies make zero, zip, not a drop on their own. Many cats pass away far too early—around 10 or 12 years old—due to an enlarged heart.

​The Truth about Cat Food:
Most commercial foods (especially the cheaper brands) only provide the bare minimum. Sometimes that synthetic taurine isn't even absorbed properly. So, how do you give your cat this crucial ingredient without breaking the bank?

​My Personal Go-To’s:
​Sardines (in water!): A powerhouse of taurine and Omega-3s.

​Dark Meat Poultry: Chicken thighs and hearts are taurine goldmines. You can get a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken for $5–$6, or buy raw thighs on sale and boil them!

​The "Shocking" Hack: When you buy ground beef or chicken, pour that red juice over your cat's food! Don't let it go to waste! That liquid (called "purge") is a mixture of water and a protein called myoglobin. It provides a massive boost of iron and taurine.

​Pro Tip: Juice from chicken thighs can have 4–5 times more taurine than beef juice!

​"But won't raw chicken juice make them sick?"
I used to think the same thing! But cats have the "Acid Advantage." Their stomach acid is much stronger than ours, and their digestive tracts are very short. Bacteria often get "burned up" before they can cause an infection. It’s why they can eat a lizard or bird outside and be fine!

​Note: If you're worried, make a "Chicken Tea"—add a little water to the juice, bring it to a quick boil, and let it cool.

​Safety First: I do not recommend raw juice for FIV+ or FeLV+ cats (immune-compromised), or from meat that is past its prime.

​We just want everyone’s cats to be as happy and healthy as possible!

Welcome our sweet Nemo!

This gentlemen of a kitten had a rough start. He was found all alone, face matted, weak, and hungry. You may of been one to see this post a few days ago.

Friday night two of our wonderful volunteers and myself stayed on the phone passed midnight trying to making arrangements for this little fella.

Someone took him for the night as we gathered plans. It takes a village is so true. One person went to pick him up, another person took him to his foster home, and following the end of the yard sale, I visited to give protocol meds and finished cleaning his face. His foster mom Jen Lynn had her hands full getting the dried p**p off his bottom.

These pictures reflect the original post, what he looked like when our transport volunteer picked him up & what he looks like now after his face was clean and his protocol meds were giving to him. I'd say, Nemo cleans up pretty good! He's sleeping a lot and is already super friendly! We are so glad we could be apart of his survival and healing journey. He is super tiny. Going on 3 weeks. He has itty Bitty teeth coming in.

UPDATE: PETUNIA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Sweet Petunia is now ready for adoption. This angel came to us with a massive hole in her neck so deep you could see her jugular vein. She was ALL bones & days away from labor.

She went through several weeks of laser therapy which has amazingly healed that gruesome hole. Her foster mom Jen Lynn and early foster mom Tiffany Jeanne have done a wonderful job packing the weight on her, filling out those bones. She is a happy healthy, incredibly sweet cat. When she spent the night with me, I held her for hours at a time. She is the text book definition of lap cat.

We are looking for her forever family that will continue to show her the good side of humanity. She deserves that after what she's been through.
