🐾 CUTIE ALERT + PET PARENT PSA! 🐾

Everyone meet Khloee! 💕🐶 This sweet girl recently saw Dr. Seaton for a recheck of an ear hematoma, and we thought her adorable face was the perfect opportunity for a little pet-parent education!

👂 What is an ear hematoma?
-An aural hematoma is a pocket of blood that forms between the skin and cartilage of the ear flap. It commonly happens after repeated head shaking or scratching, which can damage the small blood vessels inside the ear.

🌿 But what causes all that scratching and shaking?
-One common culprit is ALLERGIES! Allergies can cause itchy, irritated ears and skin, leading pets to scratch, chew, rub, and shake their heads excessively. Ear infections can also develop secondary to allergies and make the irritation even worse.

👁Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Excessive scratching or chewing
🐾 Frequent head shaking
🐾 Rubbing the face or ears
🐾 Red, irritated, or sensitive ears
🐾 Odor or discharge from the ears
🐾 Swelling of the ear flap

If your pet is showing these signs, don’t wait until an irritated ear turns into a painful hematoma. Give us a call and let’s talk about what may be causing the itching and whether allergies could be playing a role.

Our boarding reservations for the Labor Day holiday are completely booked, and we are unable to accept any additional boarding reservations for the holiday weekend.

Please make sure you have everything your pet may need for the long weekend! Stop by no later than Friday for: 💊 Medication refills

🐾 BENNETT IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! 🏡❤️

Meet Bennett, a sweet 2-year-old neutered male wire-haired Terrier mix who is ready for a family to call his own.

Bennett originally came to stay with us on July 16th. Sadly, while he was in our care, his owner passed away. Since then, Bennett has remained with us while we make sure this sweet boy finds the loving home he deserves. ❤️

🐶 A little about Bennett: • 2 years old
• Neutered male
• Brown, wire-haired Terrier mix
• Up to date on vaccinations
• Current on heartworm prevention
• Current on flea prevention
• Friendly with other dogs
• Cat friendly! 🐱
• Has done great when introduced to cats and small dogs

Bennett is a friendly, sweet boy who has already been through a big change in his young life. He has been with us for over a month now, and we would LOVE to see him leave our hospital with a new family of his very own. 🥹❤️

Handsboro Animal Hospital is looking for a Part-Time Kennel Technician to join our team!

Do you love animals and enjoy staying busy? We’re looking for a dependable, hardworking, compassionate person who wants to be part of a veterinary hospital team.

As a Kennel Technician, you’ll help provide daily care for our patients, including feeding, walking, cleaning kennels, maintaining a clean and safe environment, assisting with patient care, and making sure every pet is comfortable and well cared for. 🐶🐱

We’re looking for someone who is: 🐾 Reliable & punctual
🐾 Compassionate toward animals
🐾 Comfortable working with dogs and cats
🐾 Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions
🐾 A team player with a positive attitude
🐾 Willing to work hard and get their hands dirty!

Previous veterinary or animal-care experience is preferred.
