🐾 Meet Beau! 🐾

Beau stopped by today to stay protected with his heartworm prevention, and he wanted to remind everyone just how important year-round protection is—especially here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!

Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes, and unfortunately our warm climate means mosquitoes are active for much of the year. Just one bite from an infected mosquito can put your pet at risk for a serious and potentially life-threatening disease.

The good news? Heartworm disease is preventable! Monthly preventatives and routine heartworm testing are the best ways to keep your furry family members safe and healthy.

Don't wait until it's too late—make sure your pet is up to date on their heartworm prevention. If you're unsure what your pet needs, give us a call. We're happy to help!

☀️ Summer Safety Reminder for Pets! 🐾

The summer heat can be dangerous for our furry friends. Pets can develop heat exhaustion or heat stroke much faster than people, especially during hot and humid days.

✅ Always provide plenty of fresh water
✅ Make sure your pet has access to shade or air conditioning
✅ Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day
✅ Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes
✅ Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse

If you think your pet may be suffering from heat stroke, seek veterinary care immediately.

🐾 Meet the Staff Monday: Natosha! 🐾

This week, we're excited to introduce Natosha!

Natosha has been a valued member of the Handsboro Animal Hospital family since 2023. She holds an Associate of Arts degree in Theatre and began her journey with us as a Kennel Technician before advancing to her current role as a Veterinary Technician Assistant.

When she's not caring for our patients, Natosha enjoys acting, modeling, and supporting environmental causes. She is also the proud pet parent of her dog, Minka, who even has her own social media account! 🐶✨

Natosha has a true passion for animals and treats every pet who walks through our doors as if they were her own. Her compassion, kindness, and dedication help make our hospital a welcoming place for both pets and their families.

🌟 Patient Spotlight: Suri🌟

After a long week, we couldn't forget our Patient Spotlight!

Meet Suri, who came to see us yesterday for allergy concerns. 🐾 Allergies are one of the most common reasons pets visit the veterinarian, especially during the warmer months when pollen, grasses, molds, and other environmental allergens are at their highest.

Common signs of allergies in pets include:
🐶 Excessive scratching or licking
🐱 Chewing at paws
👂 Recurring ear infections
🌿 Red or irritated skin
🤧 Sneezing or watery eyes

If your pet is showing any of these signs, don't wait for them to become uncomfortable. Early intervention can help keep your furry family member happy and itch-free!

🐾 KITTENS LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOMES! 🐾

These two adorable little boys are approximately 6 weeks old and are ready to start looking for loving families! ❤️

Both kittens are sweet, playful, and full of personality. They are currently eating a little canned food and still taking some formula as they continue to grow and thrive.
