On Saturday morning, I was delighted to assist the computer engineer who works with the Navy on the Zumwalt-class destroyers in training his recent addition, which he rescued from a local shelter. Let's meet Hermie, a one-and-a-half-year-old unique-looking German shepherd with a butterscotch coloring. Hermie was a sweet girl who just needed some basic training to control her movements while walking, as she tended to pull on the leash, only sit and stay for a short period of time, bark inappropriately, and jump around the home. Now my owner, who's originally from Australia, has the knowledge and tools to control this handsome girl, who is walking smoothly on the leash as shown in photos below, sitting and staying at a distance, returning nicely when called, being calm inside the home, and only jumping when it's appropriate. All training was completed without the use of food or treats for motivation.

On a Monday morning I was thrilled to assist a wonderful woman who happens to be an octogenarian, 86 years young, in training her stunning 14-month-old German Shepherd named Conrad, who was being overzealous with Mom in his playfulness by excessively jumping when it wasn't appropriate, was difficulty walking on the leash, did not know how to sit or stay in place when instructed to be calm at the appropriate times. Her daughter, who flew in for a family visit from Hawaii, was concerned that Conrad might cause potential injury to her mother if he wasn't properly trained, which is completely understandable, especially with the woman of her years; however, the mom, who was a nonsense type of person, took control of Conrad with proper instructions, and now Conrad is walking smoothly on the leash, sitting and staying in place, no longer jumping unless it's appropriate, and being calm when told. All training was completed without the use of food or treats for motivation, and my owner has the knowledge and tools to control this wonderful dog.

On Sunday evening I was thrilled to help a terrific lady who works in human resources along with her husband of two years, who is in active reserve U.S. Army soldier and was stationed at Arlington National Cemetery as part of the Old Guard. They have a 6-month-old toy poodle weighing a whopping 5 lb named Simba, who was a big barker inside the house, especially since Mom works from home as human resources personnel. Simba was difficult to walk on the leash, jumped when it wasn't appropriate, and did not know how to sit or stay in place or at a distance. Now my happy couple has the knowledge to control this sweet little boy, who is walking smartly on the leash, no longer barking or jumping unless it is warranted, and sitting and staying in place at a distance. All training was accomplished without the use of food or treats for motivation.

On Sunday afternoon, I was thrilled to assist another wonderful couple who've been on the coast for a couple of years for easier living and better opportunities. I was initially called for a 2.5 yr old Frenchton, which is a French Bulldog Boston Terrier combo named Brewski, who has some serious issues when it comes to his aggressive behavior toward neighbors by barking excessively and nipping at people, and trust me when you meet the dog, he thought I was his dinner even though he's only like 25 lbs. He also had difficulty walking properly on a leash without pulling, did not know how to sit or stay in place, and jumped at inappropriate times. They also adopted another French Bulldog, who's 2 yrs old, from a foster family they named Burrows, and he was developing the same problems that Brewski had, and they did not wish to double their trouble, whether it be one or both dogs. Now both dogs shown in the photos are walking smoothly on the leash, sitting and staying in place, and no longer jumping on anyone or anything. Their aggression has been addressed and curtailed, they are also very calm in the home. All training was accomplished without using food or treats for motivation; my owners now have the knowledge and tools to control these unique pups in the years to come.

This past Sunday morning, I had the pleasure of helping a wonderful, hard-working young lady with two jobs who drove over from Mobile, Alabama, to my location in Gulfport to assist her with her two very boisterous and sometimes aggressive 2-year-old Shih Tzu and Schnauzer mixes, who go by the names Coco and Chanel. Both dogs were in charge of their mom, who has a big heart, by ignoring her commands, refusing to walk properly on the leash, barking excessively, jumping when they felt like it, being overly aggressive toward strangers, potentially causing harm to others, and not knowing how to sit, stay, or return from a distance. Now both dogs are minding their P's and Q's for their mom; they are walking nicely on the leash, sitting and staying in place, as well as at a distance and no longer acting aggressively, which has been addressed by curtailed, and only jumping when it's permitted. All training was completed without the use of food or treats for motivation, and my owner has the knowledge and tools to control these newly adjusted girls. On Saturday afternoon, I was thrilled to assist a young mom with her two small children in training her stunning 10-month-old German Shepherd, Ozzy. Ozzy was a rambunctious pup with no boundaries, especially around the children and their grandmother, who lives with them. He was a frequent jumper, and he was unable to sit or remain in place for more than two or three seconds. Walking on a leash without pulling was also a challenge. Now, Ozzy is minding his mom by walking smoothly on the leash. As shown in the photos below, he no longer jumps on anyone or anything unless permitted, and he can sit and stay in place for longer periods and greater distances, returning smartly when called. His owner now has the knowledge and tools to manage this handsome pup, and all training was accomplished without using food or treats as motivation.

On Saturday afternoon, I was proud to assist a fellow veteran who served in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969, including one combat tour in Vietnam in 1967 as a helicopter crew chief on a Medevac helicopter, saving the lives of wounded Marines. He recently rescued a 14-week-old mixed breed from the local animal shelter named Oreo and was having trouble controlling Oreo's exuberance, particularly his jumping and nipping at his parents, which caused abrasions and scratches on their arms and legs. Oreo had never learned how to walk on a leash and had no understanding of commands like sit or stay; returning was out of the question. Now, my fellow veteran has the tools and knowledge to control this wonderful pup, who is no longer jumping on anyone or anything unless approved. Oreo's exuberance has been tamped down, and he is walking calmly on the leash, as shown in the photos below. He is sitting, staying at a distance, and returning nicely when called. All training was completed without the use of food or treats as motivation.

On Wednesday evening, I was proud to help a pair of veterans, both of whom served in the United States Air Force and have been married for 35 years, assist a 10-month-old Pitbull named Jaws that they are fostering because his owner is in a difficult situation and cannot take care of the dog properly. My owners told me that Jaws had previously been abused and developed trust issues that made it difficult for him to make friends, which resulted in defensive and aggressive behavior when meeting new people. So initially a muzzle was used for my safety, and we soon became friends and the muzzle came off. His ability, trust me, was evident, and he learned how to walk properly on the leash, sit, and stay in place as well as at a distance. He no longer jumps on anyone unless permitted, and his excessive barking has been curtailed as well. All training was accomplished without the use of food or treats for motivation, and my owners now know and have the tools and knowledge to control this handsome fellow for a better quality of life.

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to work with a lovely lady who’s a retired ICU nurse of 45 years training her new puppy, super cute 14 week old German Shepherd Sadie. Sadie was an energetic puppy typical of her kind; she didn’t know how to be calm in the household without attacking the other dogs in the home, was difficult to walk on a leash for exercise, had no idea how to sit or stay in place, and jumped excessively and nipped at her mama, causing slight abrasions to her upper arms. Sadie is now calm inside the home as seen in the pictures below and is leaving the other dogs alone she is no longer jumping on her mama or using her teeth to cause abrasions. My owner has the knowledge and tools controlled this wonderful pup all training was accomplished without using food or treats for motivation.

On Monday afternoon I was glad to drive to Chickasaw, Alabama, to help another wonderful family. The father, a successful small business owner, along with his 15-year-old son, who is a football player, and their 6-month-old American Bully named Ace, who was full of energy and vigor both at home and during walks. Ace was a big jumper on friends and family; he also did not know how to sit or stay in place or at a distance, and returning was not always certain. Now the family has knowledge and tools to control this sharp-looking dog who's walking calmly on the leash, sitting and staying in place as well as at a distance, no longer jumping on anyone or anything unless permitted, and returning nicely when called. All training was completed without the use of food or treats for motivation.
