Good morning, Parkway family! It's a swampy one! π₯΅
As temperatures and humidity rise, it's important to remember that pets can overheat much faster than people. Even on days that don't seem excessively hot, high humidity can make it difficult for pets to cool themselves through panting.
Here are a few ways to help keep your furry family members safe:
β
Walk dogs during the cooler morning or evening hours
β
Always provide access to fresh, clean water and shade
β
Limit strenuous exercise on hot, humid days
β
Test pavement with the back of your hand, if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws
β
Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes
β
Watch for signs of heat stress, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse
If your pet shows signs of overheating, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact your veterinarian right away.
A little extra caution during Florida's warm, humid weather can help ensure a safe and enjoyable summer for your pets! β€οΈπΆπ±
