4-H Needs Mentors Like You!

I started mentoring with 4-H in 2022, I am now finishing up my bachelors at Mizzou and doing an internship this semester with Wright County 4-H extension. In my experience I have gotten to help youth find their excitement in learning. I also find that it is incredibly rewarding to pass on knowledge in areas that I specialize in. The youth development specialist for the county, Kyle Wake, does his best to make the enrollment process and training for mentors as straight forward as possible.

The goals of the 4‑H National Mentoring Program (NMP) are to increase youth social competency, improve family relationships, and increase academic success. With the support of adult mentors, youth select from a wide variety of hands-on project ideas to complete. The list of projects is truly too long to put into this post, there are all of your typical livestock projects but 4-H also has; STEM, programing, dog agility, geology, baking, amphibians, woodworking, film making, cake decorating, and much much more. As a mentor and advisor you can choose to specialize in certain projects short term; or start a club that grows into second family.
