We're about to find out how many of you are being held hostage by your own pets. 😂

Does your pet sleep in your bed?

A. Absolutely. That's their bed. They allow me to sleep there.

B. Yes, but they have an assigned spot. (That they ignore.)

C. No. They have their own bed.

D. We started with C, but somehow ended up at A.

Things that happen behind the scenes at Grant Vet that probably aren't in our job descriptions:

Giving a nervous patient a few extra minutes to get comfortable.

Remembering which dog will do absolutely anything for a treat.

Calling someone over because they HAVE to see how cute this puppy is.

Celebrating when a patient we've been worried about is doing better.

And occasionally having a very serious conversation with an animal who has zero interest in cooperating. 😂

There's a lot that goes into a day at a veterinary clinic.

Some of it requires years of training.

Some of it requires patience.

And some of it requires speaking in a voice we would never use in public.

Wouldn't trade it. 🐾

How many pictures do you have to scroll through before you find one that DOESN'T include your pet?

Because we know some of you have 47 pictures of the exact same sleeping position, and you refuse to delete a single one.

And honestly? We respect it.

Your pet walks into an exam room.

And before you've even finished telling us why you're here, we're already paying attention. 👀

How they're walking.

How they're breathing.

How they're moving around the room.

Whether they seem comfortable, nervous, or just a little different than we'd expect.

An exam doesn't start the moment we pick up a stethoscope. Observation is part of veterinary medicine, too.

And when we combine what we're seeing with what YOU notice at home, we get a much better picture of what's going on.

That's why we ask so many questions.

And why we're always listening to the answers. 🐾

Maybe...
No one is allowed to close the bathroom door.

Dinner at 5:01 is considered neglect.

Their spot on the couch is legally protected property.

The delivery driver must be announced to the entire neighborhood.

You may stop petting them only when THEY decide the meeting has concluded.

And sleeping diagonally across a king-size bed is apparently a constitutional right.

Want to know one of our favorite things to tell a pet owner?

“Everything looks great.”

That might sound like a pretty uneventful appointment.
We LOVE uneventful.

Healthy weight. Healthy heart and lungs. Nothing concerning on the exam. No surprises.

Veterinary medicine isn’t only about finding something wrong.
A whole lot of it is helping you keep things right.

And we will happily take the boring appointments all day long. ❤️🐾
