Why Do I Train Horses?
Like many of you, I had a passion for horses as a kid that I never grew out of. Even though I didn’t grow up in a horse family, I never stopped finding ways to ride, learn, and grow in my horsemanship.
While I wasn’t raised in a horse family, I was raised in a family that believes deeply in being stewards of God’s creation. As humans, we’ve been given dominion over the earth and its creatures. I believe that the passion I was given to work with horses is also a responsibility, a calling to steward them well.
To me, training isn’t about asking how a horse can better serve me. It’s about asking how I can better serve the horse.
How can I meet their needs so they feel safe?
How can I build their confidence?
How can I help them feel comfortable in their own body so they want to partner with me?
Every horse that comes through my program matters. And while I may never know how many hands they’ll pass through in their lifetime, my hope is that the foundation and tools I give them will help carry them safely and confidently into whatever comes next.
That’s why I train.
