🚨 A reminder to make sure your pets are protected! 🐾💉

We’re seeing and hearing about preventable infectious diseases much closer to home, and now is a good time to make sure your pets are protected.

🦠 Rabies: A domestic dog here in Louisiana tested positive for rabies just last month! The CDC recently issued a health advisory reporting a nationwide increase in human exposures to rabid or potentially rabid animals.
Rabies is a deadly disease, but it is preventable through vaccination. Keeping your pets current on their rabies vaccines is one of the most important things you can do to protect your pets, your family, and your community.

But rabies isn't the only concern. Several other preventable diseases have been confirmed in dogs in Jefferson Parish already this year, including:
🐶 Distemper – highly contagious and potentially fatal
🐶 Parvovirus (Parvo) – extremely contagious and potentially deadly, especially in puppies and unvaccinated dogs
🐶 Leptospirosis (Lepto) – a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection that can also be transmitted to people

The good news? Vaccination can dramatically reduce the risk of these diseases. ❤️

Please take a moment to check your pet's vaccine records. If your dog or cat is overdue—or you’re not sure when their vaccines are due—give us a call. We’re happy to review their record and make sure they have the protection they need.

Don’t wait until there’s an exposure to think about prevention.

Keeping vaccines current is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your pets. 🐾
