“The floor is lava” has never felt so real (especially during heat wave after heat wave this summer). In fact, it only takes 60 seconds for paws to burn as temperatures soar and surfaces begin to bake.
Hourly Paw Safety
That’s why we’re introducing PawSafe Weather to take the guesswork out of your daily walks. Our latest Labs feature tells you whether the pavement is safe for paws, hour by hour.

How it works: Surface temperatures are modeled from sun, cloud and wind data (not just air temperature), then color-coded from lower risk to extreme danger. Think of it as a heat map for delicate paws.

The golden rule: When in doubt, always do the 7-second hand test. Press the back of your hand flat on the pavement for 7 seconds. If you can't hold it there comfortably, it's too hot for paws. Period.

What else you get:
Current status: Real-time pavement safety assessment with specific guidance for your area
Hourly paw safety forecast: Color-coded risk levels throughout the day
Custom conditions: Estimated pavement temps, ‘feels-like’ and air temps, precipitation, humidity, UV index and more
