Before you ask… no, Jasper is not AI 😭

Though he’s so cute we may have had to check his vitals a few extra times just to make sure he was real.

Jasper originally came to see us for a ruptured abscess that required wound care and a tie-over bandage. A tie-over bandage is a technique where bandaging material is secured directly over a wound using sutures, helping keep medications and dressings in place while protecting the area and promoting healing.

We’re happy to report that Jasper’s wound is healing BEAUTIFULLY! While our team deserves a little credit, we think his adorable recovery outfit has been doing some heavy lifting by preventing him from scratching at the site.

Abscesses are common in cats and often develop after bite wounds, scratches, or other injuries. Signs of an abscess can include swelling, redness, pain, drainage, a foul odor, decreased appetite, lethargy, or hiding more than usual.

Early intervention is key. Abscesses can worsen quickly, allowing infection to spread deeper into surrounding tissues and resulting in delayed wound healing or more extensive treatment.

If you think your pet may have an abscess or any suspicious swelling, don’t wait to have it evaluated. The sooner treatment is started, the better the outcome is likely to be.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate this adorable Aussie girl? 💕 Meet Lily, who came to see us after sustaining a laceration from an altercation with another dog. 🤕

Thankfully, Lily’s sweet family acted quickly and brought her in right away… and that makes all the difference! Prompt treatment of wounds is incredibly important, as delays can increase the risk of infection and tissue necrosis (when damaged tissue loses its blood supply), making repair and healing much more challenging.

Our team got right to work getting this sweet girl fixed up. Lily’s wound was carefully cleaned and repaired with sutures, and a drain was placed to help promote optimal healing and recovery.

We’re happy to report that Lily is doing much better and is well on her way back to being her happy, fluffy self! 🥰

If your pet has been involved in a fight or has sustained a laceration or other injury, don’t wait to seek care. Early intervention can make a huge difference in healing outcomes and help prevent more serious complications.

We wanted to kick start your weekend with the most perfect patient ever… and quite literally couldn’t wait to post her because she got us through a very crazy day. 🥹 Meet our wagon queen, Millie.

Millie presented to our clinic (in her adorable little wagon, of course) for a pretty gnarly laceration to one of her front legs. After evaluating her wound, it was clear our girl needed some stitches, so she was admitted to be fixed up.

As many know, veterinary urgent cares/ERs, especially this time of year, can get VERY busy, which sometimes means our less critical patients may have a bit of a wait before procedures. But this was absolutely no problem for Millie. We got pain medications on board right away to keep her comfortable (even though she came in smiling already, lol), and while she waited for her procedure, she became the emotional support queen of the treatment area.

From quick pets while passing by her wagon to staff members constantly stopping for kisses and cuddles, Millie spent the day making everyone around her feel a little better. 💕

Eventually, our sweet girl was stitched up and sent home with all of her medications and aftercare instructions for ideal healing. And we are now considering making wagon transportation mandatory for all future patients because of her.

If you notice a wound, laceration, or injury on your pet, don’t wait to have it evaluated. Management can become much more complicated if wounds are extensive or left untreated too long. Thankfully, Millie’s parents acted quickly so we could get her fixed up and set up for best possible healing.

And trust us… we cannot wait to see her again for her stitch removal 😭.

Willie’s official treatment plan included medications, diagnostics… and of course, emotional support cuddles. 🥹🤍

This handsome guy came to see us after experiencing vomiting and blood in his stool… symptoms we always take seriously, as they can point toward several different underlying conditions. Our first step with cases like Willie’s is establishing baselines with a diagnostic workup so we can identify any systemic abnormalities and tailor treatment appropriately.

After performing lab work, we were able to narrow things down to either early symptoms of HGE (Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis) or gastroenteritis. HGE is a condition where dogs can rapidly develop severe inflammation within the GI tract, often leading to vomiting, bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and very quickly feeling pretty crummy. Early intervention is key with these cases, because symptoms can progress fast if left untreated.

Willie was treated with injectable anti-nausea medication, fluids, and sent home with an antidiarrheal antibiotic and probiotics to help get his tummy back on track. We are happy to report our sweet boy was set up for success… especially after receiving approximately 47 forehead kisses from staff members.

If your pet is experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, or blood in the stool, don’t wait to have them evaluated. Early intervention is always best before symptoms progress and treatment becomes more extensive.

Meet Argenti 🥺❤️ A precious big guy who came to see us after his owners suspected an insect sting. He was experiencing panting, vomiting, and noticeable swelling around his muzzle. All signs that something wasn’t right.

After a quick evaluation in our lobby, we didn’t waste any time. Argenti was taken straight to treatment where he received supplemental oxygen, vitals, and prompt treatment with steroid and antihistamine injections, which is the classic course of care for suspected allergic reactions like this

Here’s the important part:
Sometimes what starts as a mild allergic reaction can progress into something more serious called anaphylaxis.

In simple terms, anaphylaxis happens when your pet’s immune system overreacts and releases large amounts of chemicals (most commonly histamine). In smaller amounts, you might see hives or itching… but in larger amounts, it can lead to low blood pressure, elevated heart rate, vomiting, and even changes to liver values.

That’s why early intervention is everything.
If you ever notice signs like swelling, vomiting, panting, or sudden changes after a possible sting or exposure, don’t wait!

Getting your pet evaluated quickly allows us to treat right away, monitor closely, and make sure they’re stable and safe before heading home.

Unfortunately last Tuesday we all fell victim to cuteness aggression over the smooshiest Rottweiler baby you’ve ever seen… Luna 🥹

Miss Luna came to see us last week for a few days of decreased appetite and diarrhea… something we never want to brush off, especially in our little ones! These signs can come from a variety of causes like diet changes, stress, intestinal parasites, or even systemic issues… which is why getting them checked sooner rather than later is so important.

After getting Luna started on an antidiarrheal antibiotic, a probiotic, and prophylactic deworming, we’re happy to report she is back to her perfect, playful puppy self!!

If your pet has been experiencing similar symptoms, don’t wait, early intervention is always best. And, we could always afford some extra cuddles🥺

Puff ball alert 🥺
This sweet little Pomeranian named Lucy came to see us after about 24 hours of coughing and hacking. After taking radiographs, we were able to quickly diagnose her with a collapsing trachea, a condition we commonly see in small breed dogs.

Now we know that sounds scary (and honestly, it can be a little dramatic-sounding), but the good news is 👉 it’s very manageable with medications when needed! Lucy is already on the right track and feeling much better 🫶
