On June 17th, I received a call from my lieutenant about a dog tied to a chandelier. Yes, you read that correctly—a dog tied to a chandelier that was still attached to a house.
When I arrived, my heart sank.
Standing in front of me was a severely emaciated white dog, dirty, hungry, and tied up with electrical wire. Despite everything she had endured, she was still excited to see people. She gently sat down and allowed me to place my leash on her while I removed the collar that had been securing her to the chandelier.
The moment she was free, she calmly walked beside me to my truck. She tried so hard to jump in on her own, but she simply didn’t have the strength.
Thankfully, one of our Greenwood Police Department officers immediately stepped up and offered to foster her. She spent the night safely at the shelter and was taken to the veterinarian today for a full evaluation.
The news wasn’t great. We learned that she is heavily heartworm positive and deaf. But through it all, she was an absolute sweetheart. She behaved perfectly during her examination, vaccinations, and treatments, winning over everyone she met.
Because of the heartbreaking way she was found, the shelter decided to name her Chandelier.
Now, Chandelier begins her journey to recovery, and we’re asking for your help. She has a long road ahead and will need lots of love, care, and supplies, including:
🐾 Dry dog food
🐾 Wet dog food
🐾 Medicated shampoo
🐾 Treats and toys
🐾 Blankets and bedding for comfort
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, or I can arrange pickup. Monetary donations can be made directly to the shelter through their office, Cash App, or Venmo. If you donate, please include “Chandelier” so the funds go toward her care.
This sweet girl has already been through more than any dog should ever have to endure. Let’s show her that the rest of her story can be different. Together, we can help Chandelier heal, regain her strength, and eventually find the loving forever home she deserves.
❤️ Please donate if you can, and most importantly, please SHARE this post so Chandelier’s story reaches as many people as possible.
