HartSong Ranch Animal Sanctuary

HartSong Ranch Animal Sanctuary HartSong Ranch Animal Sanctuary is a permanent safe-haven for previously abused/neglected/abandoned horses and farm animals. All are trauma survivors.

Additionally, our dog rescue programs provide forever hospice care for terminally ill and senior dogs. HartSong Ranch is dedicated to providing a permanent safe haven to animals deemed un-adoptable. Many of the sanctuary animals in our care have special needs - some are blind, some have emotional problems and some are elderly. We also manage The UnderDOG Railroad, saving hundreds of pups from hig

h kill shelters who have failed their temperament evaluations and are therefore, not allowed onto adoption room floors. In addition, we manage Ethel's Mission, saving senior pups, 15+ years or older. These senior "fospice" (hospice + foster) pups are placed in loving forever homes until they take their last breath. HartSong Ranch covers all expenses for Ethel's Mission pups - food, bedding and veterinary care. Our goal is to make certain that the last years of their lives are the best they have ever known.

HartSong Ranch Animal Sanctuary, founded in 2007, is a 30-acre facility offering a permanent safe-haven for horses, farm animals and dogs.

The animals living within our gates provide a platform for the public to observe firsthand the way animals (many with special needs) beautifully recover from abusive situations, learn to trust again and how they behave when they're not expected to be used for milk, meat, clothing, or labor.

We allow the sanctuary animals to simply be, and as a result, connect to one another and humans with an awe-inspiring sense of calm and trust.

With your support during Big Day of Giving on May 7, we can continue to provide a landscape of quiet and tranquility for the animals living within our gates while growing our impact in this community.

GIVE: You can donate to HartSong Ranch Animal Sanctuary by visiting www.bigdayofgiving.org on Thursday, May 7(or before), and making a gift with a credit or debit card.

Thank You! We, and those we serve, deeply appreciate your support.

What do you think caught his attention?

He stood perfectly still for nearly two minutes, staring at a bush in the upper pasture. Even as I walked by, he stayed rigid - convinced something troubling was hiding there. It’s still a mystery…

Following three days of heavy, persistent rainfall, Scrumpy and Deli were finally allowed to leave their stalls and graze in the front yard, where fresh clover grass is abundant yet despite being covered in mud, both horses are seemingly unconcerned by their condition.

The pastures are currently flourishing with spring grass, pond lilies have fully bloomed, and the barn rafters are full of bird nests, from which the chirping sounds of baby birds can be heard. We’ve waited a long time – in fact months, to experience the calm and peacefulness of a day like today.

Between mid-December 2025 and early February 2026, we faced one of the most physically and emotionally demanding periods in almost two decades of animal rescue. Unfortunately, during this brief span, five of our beloved sanctuary animals passed away – a topic I’ll address separately at a later time.

For now, we appreciate the lovely spring weather and the well-being of the animals in our care. Today is a wonderful day.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Carolynne Wright Knisley and Cool Feed & Ranch Supply for hosting the SPECTACULAR 2025 Crab Feed fundraiser benefitting HartSong Ranch.

It truly was a memorable evening of great food, libations, smiles, laughter and conversation, surrounded by others who embrace our vision for a kinder, more compassionate world.

Events like these play a crucial role in enabling HartSong Ranch to continue its mission of caring for animals in need. We deeply appreciate the partnerships, friendships and support we've received from our community over the many years.

With sincere thanks from everyone at HartSong Ranch,

Meet a young entrepreneur using art for animal welfare.

We are excited to introduce Elya Scott, a high school sophomore passionate about animals and art and owner of Sunlit Shape Studios, a small Etsy-based business. The shop includes stickers, art prints, and miniature paintings. This year, Sunlit Shape Studios has partnered with HartSong Ranch to create custom stickers featuring our beloved resident animals, showcasing Elya's talents and supporting HartSong's mission .

Stickers can be used for personalizing items such as laptops, water bottles, phones, planners, crafts & art, etc.

By purchasing from her Etsy shop, http://bit.ly/3XG1xyA, you are directly contributing to HartSong Ranch's initiatives while empowering emerging entrepreneurs in our community. Let's champion local talent and make a difference together!

As we celebrate Thanksgiving 2025, 'thankful' is the word that comes to mind. The sanctuary animals are healthy and thriving - their bellies are full - their stalls are full of soft, warm bedding and all have a special friend with which to enjoy every day - all thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated volunteers and generous donors. Our gratitude is immense. Thank you for being a part of our journey.

We wish everyone a joyful Thanksgiving day with family and friends.

COURTESY POST FOR A FRIEND

ACE needs a new home – through no fault of his own. This pup’s current situation weighs heavy on my heart, and we are committed to assisting him in finding an appropriate and loving home.

Here's Ace's back story…

Ace, an Aussie mix adopted at 7 weeks old from Facebook Marketplace post and advertised as FREE, lives with Ellen, a 65-year-old diabetic experiencing chronic pain who cannot walk him. Their home has a small, mostly concrete yard with no grass, leaving active 7-month-old Ace without space to play or expend his energy, resulting in significant boredom.

Ellen sometimes takes Ace to a friend’s house to swim and play with another dog (see video). When exercised, Ace is playful, curious, alert, and friendly with other dogs. He’s housebroken, neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, intelligent, and eager to learn.

Here’s what ACE needs…

He would benefit from a younger, active owner or family, preferably with land and access to water, as he enjoys swimming. Ace is highly social and enjoys the company of both people and other dogs. He is well-suited to a ranch environment and, due to his Australian Shepherd mix heritage, would excel in a herding role.

Ace has never been exposed to children. Given his high energy level, he is likely not an ideal fit for households with very young children, such as toddlers.

If you would like to meet ACE, please contact Carol - 1-916-202-4035 to schedule a meet and greet. In that ACE has been fully vetted, neutered and microchipped, his adoption fee is $150.00.

Please share Ace’s need for a new home far and wide. There must be someone - somewhere - who can offer this sweet, energetic 7-month-old pup, a comfortable, stimulating and happy home.
Thank you for your time and considerations.
