CT Dog Gone Recovery Tips

Beware of scammers: Unfortunately they are here.

Scammers are becoming more and more sophisticated. They are using AI technology to make it look like your dog is at a vet or in serious need of medical attention.
Please don’t fall for it. Make sure you verify it’s authenticity first.

Never send money without your dog in your possession first. These are other scams with a variety of storylines but the goal is to get you to send money. If you are offering a reward meet them in a public area like a police or fire station.

They may claim to be calling from a Veterinary Hospital. Claiming your dog was hit by a car and needs life-saving surgery. Do not ever send money before verifying the information.

They may claim that a neighbor found your dog and bought your dog food and supplies. If you cash app the money, you can get the dog back. Never ever send anybody money.

We have even had people claiming to be police officers call our owners that their dog was hit by a car and needs emergency surgery.

Don’t ever send anybody money without doing some research.
If working with CTDGR,
Always contact the lead volunteer that’s helping your case. They will walk you through the steps.

Please be aware.

This is not the update we wanted. Calling all prayer warriors , dog lovers and generous supporters.

We received a call from our vet a couple hours ago and our puppies have taken a turn for the worse. They determined they have pneumonia and are now all three are in a more intensive isolation. More potent medicines are now being delivered through IVs.

They are lethargic tonight and still won’t eat and it’s been three days. Their playful nature yesterday has turned to lethargy and higher fevers today. All are raspy and their respiratory rates are over 140 and they aren’t panting. We’re all extremely worried and determined to do our very best for them to give them the full lives we know they deserve.

Please help us help them in any way you possibly can.
We will post photos and current medical bills tomorrow.

Your support, sharing and prayers mean so much.

We absolutely love seeing our dogs out and about, welcome in dog friendly environments and showing off their beautiful manners, obedience skills and neutral behavior around people and other dogs.
Kudos and huge props to our dear friend and trainer, Rick Shilling and Detection Dogs USA LLC for helping our dogs become their very best.

Update 5/20:
We received a call from our vet a couple hours ago and our puppies have taken a turn for the worse. They determined they have pneumonia and are now all three are in a more intensive isolation. More potent medicines are now being delivered through IVs.

They are lethargic tonight and still won’t eat and it’s been three days. Their playful nature yesterday has turned to lethargy and higher fevers today at 104+. All are raspy and their respiratory rates are over 140 and they aren’t panting. All need nebulizer treatment and a higher level of isolation and care. We’re all extremely worried and determined to do our very best for them to give them the full lives we know they deserve. Our latest estimate is $1905 per puppy, so we are looking at another $5,715 on top of $1323, which is above the below amount.

Please help us help them in any way you possibly can.
We will post photos and current medical bills tomorrow.

Your support, sharing and prayers mean so much.

Well, today didn’t go quite as planned and we are asking for your financial support for our three girls, Diana, Apple and Georgia. Our puppies are sick.😭

All three have come down with URI (upper respiratory infection) and diarrhea and instead of being at their foster homes as planned this weekend, all are now back at the veterinarian for medical boarding and are in isolation because they are sick. They are receiving antibiotics and anti nausea meds. Apple is getting fluid support with IVs. Georgia is lethargic and Diana had a high fever and diarrhea. Nobody wants to eat. Parvo tests are thankfully negative!

As of this morning before our bill was $877.59 for just the wellness exams, baths, deworming and boarding before going to fosters. We do this for all dogs coming out of the shelter to ensure we help our valued, foster families stay safe and healthy.

This afternoon all three are getting meds and monitored medical care. We did everything we possibly could and correctly by getting them check ups and boarding for a week to monitor and BOOMšŸ’„, the day they should all be snuggling in loving homes until transport at the end of the month, they all spiked something that’s making them sick. They are all already thin and not one of them wants to eat. They need this care so badly.

We hadn’t planned on saving three medical puppies and really need your financial support. We are attaching the three invoices for each puppy. The total of all three was $877.59 this morning before everyone got sick.

There will be more care needed for these beautiful, 12 week old girls. More bills to come as they continue with fluids, anti nausea meds and administered antibiotics.

Would you please consider a donation to help them?
We are sorry to ask, but we literally cannot do this on our own and ARK Charities is a fully donation funded rescue run by volunteers who take no salaries.

Thank you for any donation to help with Apple, Diana, and Georgia’s care! No amount is too small.
Thank you for standing with us.

This brand new peer-reviewed clinical review highlights emerging safety concerns around anti nerve growth factor arthritis injections like Librela and Solensia. Based on post marketing reports and clinical observations, some dogs developed unusually rapid joint deterioration after treatment, including faster than normal arthritis progression, joint instability, and even structural collapse. In certain cases, these changes appeared after just one or two injections, while others developed more gradually over time. What makes these findings concerning is that they do not resemble typical arthritis, with veterinarians reporting abnormal bone formation, bone erosion, and widespread joint damage, sometimes affecting joints that were not previously identified as diseased. The review suggests a possible biological explanation, noting that nerve growth factor plays a role not only in pain signaling but also in maintaining joint health, meaning blocking it could interfere with the joint’s ability to adapt or repair. While these observations do not prove causation, they raise important questions and highlight the need for careful monitoring and further research.

Who has the best head tilt ever? OTTO does! šŸ™‚

Otto is available for adoption and is ready for his forever home. He is fully up to date, dog and people friendly and has been awesome with everyone. We recommend children old enough to get out of the way of his happy tail because he is still very much a puppy.

Otto is a happy-go-lucky, fun and goofy boy who is a bit over a year and is full of snuggles, love and puppy entertainment of the best kind. He has worked with our trainer, Rick Shilling, Detection Dogs USA LLC and did great when a boys group was there learning about dog training . He did well with environmental exposure on leash and about town. He has been on training outings with dog rescue groups and socialized well. He is really a happy fellow who longs to have a family of his very own. He is a very good boy and would be great either with a canine companion or as an only dog. He needs more polishing and time spent on leash and knows the basics. With a bit of training he will very good just about everywhere you may want to adventure with him . Otto loves to play and play mixed with training will make him the perfect companion. Our sweet fellow weighs roughly 80lbs and is still filling out. He could be almost 90lbs fully grown. He is soft, silky and very lovable.

Please share OTTO and help us find his forever home and perfect family. He is ready and so deserving love and fun adventures.

Our friend, Di, at SAY WOOF Photography recently captured these awesome photos of him!

Please fill out an application below if you think Otto is a perfect fit for your family.

Last Friday we rescued three, 12 week old sisters:
Diana (all black),
Georgia, (black and brown)
Apple (tan and silver sable)
All from Dallas Animal Shelter.
Look at how much better they look already!
This past week each puppy was fully vetted, dewormed and each one had a spa day to remove the caked on grass and mud from their previous life.

Tomorrow each beautiful puppy will go to her two week, temporary, foster home while waiting for their freedom-ride-transport to us in CT.

Fosters are an incredible group of people, working behind the scenes to save lives and provide a short term bridge from shelter and veterinary care, to our rescue.

We provide everything, fosters provide the security, the love, and safety of a family home until their ride north.
We are so thankful for our foster families!🩷🩷🩷

Stay tuned for updates and photos of this little trio!

Thank you for any donations for their vetting. All three are healthy, eating well and we just need to come back for puppy boosters.
Your support means quality care and lives saved
Thank you for standing with us to save and change lives!
Stay tuned for puppy pics of all three with their fosters.
