Benny the Peruvian Rescue Pup update 🐾

3 months post-radiation (January 27, 2026).
Ww didn't celebrate out of respect for some of our K9 Trek dogs we recently passed.

But today… I’m grateful to say:
Benny is doing well and full of life.

No cancer regrowth. Still out on the trails, just moving at his own pace.

He’s been through a lot, but he’s still here, still teaching me every day.

I've started introducing his wheelchair, he’s learning, and I can already see the confidence coming back.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of his journey. Your support means more than you know.

Spring 2005.

My first year fully on my own.

I had just stepped away from Pet Store and decided to go all in with no safety net, no guarantees. I remember looking at my calendar back then… seeing a lot of open space. And I told myself, one day this will be full.

Truth is, I was nervous. I didn’t know what it would turn into. But I refused to quit. I wanted to build something of my own, something better for the dogs.

What started as simple walks quickly turned into something more… what I came to call nature hikes now K9 Trekking.

This was one of the first Brittany Spaniels (Brandi) I ever worked with.

The years have passed. A lot has changed; music, life, even me… (yeah, there’s gray hair and a few more miles on me now 😄)

But one thing hasn’t changed.

The passion and commitment I have for these dogs.

If anything, it’s only gotten deeper and backed by 20+ years of experience, and now shared with a team that cares just as much as I did when I first started.

Happy Easter everyone. 🐣

It’s been a while.

We’ve been working hard, staying focused, and continuing to do what we do best: building structure, trust, and freedom for the dogs out on the trails.

Today is a reminder of something bigger.
He has risen. ✝️

And no matter what comes your way, you keep going, you stay strong, and you rise with it.

Shoutout to our new friends Baloo and Roxie 👏 Baloo started shy and finished checking back in mid-trail (huge win). Roxie cool, composed, and holding her own like a pro.

That’s how we do it — structure first, freedom earned.

Time flies when you’re having fun ❄️

Three to four inches of packed snow under our feet and a full 60 minutes of winter wonderland trekking.

The pups soaking up every last bit of winter.

This one ran a little longer than usual, some moments just can’t be cut to 30 seconds.

Pure joy. Pure pack energy. Structured play, socialization, and reward.

20+ years in the field and still loving every minute of it.

Tibbys wheels don’t fit the snow tunnels.

So I carried him by his harness handle.

Tibby still has strength, he just uses it wisely now. A few steps here. A few feet there.
Fearlessly independent… but smart enough to say,

“Dad, I did my p*e. That’s enough snow for today.” 😆

Snow looks beautiful.
But for small dogs, senior dogs, and disabled dogs — it’s work.

If you get heavy accumulation, carve a real path.
Not a quick stomp.
A walkway.

They shouldn’t have to climb mountains just to relieve themselves.

That’s responsible ownership.
That’s love.

Labor of love. Always.
I love this friend.
And he loves me.
