Meet Josephina! This sweet 2-year-old girl is the definition of adorable. She's house-trained, crate-trained, loves other dogs, does well with cats, and—if you couldn't already tell—is an absolute staff and volunteer favorite!

Josephina walks nicely on a leash, does great with kids, and is ready to be your new best friend. Whether she's the center of attention as your one and only or joining an existing furry family, Josephina is sure to fit right in.

🐾 What a wonderful day at Ricci Rescues in the Park! 🐾

Our dogs and volunteers had an absolute blast meeting so many amazing people from our community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, said hello, and spent time getting to know some of our adoptable friends!

We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community filled with passionate animal lovers, rescue organizations, and local businesses all coming together to support the same cause.

A huge thank you to Ricci Law Firm for hosting this fantastic event and inviting us to be a part of it. We had so much fun and can't wait for the next one! ❤️🐶

🐾💕 Welcome back to our favorite segment of the week, Forever Friend Friday! 💕🐾

For those of you who remember the Backwards States group of cats we had here at HSEC, allow us to reintroduce Miss Virginia West, now known as Ginny!

Here's what her family had to say about life since adopting her:

"Hi all! My husband and I adopted Virginia West (aka Ginny) back in 2024, and she has brought so much joy, sassiness, and laughter into our lives. She has a 13-year-old long-haired dachshund brother, and the two of them have the sweetest love-hate relationship (mostly love). We love coming home to Ginny waiting for us on the ottoman while her brother anxiously waits by the door.*

Virginia is one chatty girl, and she certainly doesn’t let having no teeth stop her from enjoying food. If food is around, Ginny is around—and she will absolutely make her presence known! Most mornings, she and her brother patiently wait for a small bite of their dad’s eggs, and at night her favorite place to be is curled up on his knee while we watch TV. At heart, though, she is definitely a mama’s girl.

She has never met a stranger and happily accepts all the pets and attention she can get. One of her funniest little habits is licking our fingers and 'cleaning' them for us. She loves being close to her people and most nights sleeps at the foot of our bed. When we first brought her home, she would curl up between our pillows, and it was impossible not to fall in love with her sweet personality. These days, she prefers curling up beside us and expects plenty of belly rubs!

We are so thankful that our foster kitty became our forever kitty. Thank you, HSEC, for bringing our Ginny into our lives." 🩷

Stories like these absolutely make our day and remind us why we do what we do.

🌞🐾 Help Us Beat the Heat! 🐾🌞

The summer temperatures are here, and we are feeling it! HSEC is currently in need of high-velocity or floor-drying fans to improve airflow, reduce humidity, and keep our kennel areas cooler and more comfortable for the animals in our care.

With so many dogs and cats relying on us each day, proper air circulation makes a huge difference in their comfort and well-being during these hot summer months.

If you have a fan you'd like to donate, we would be incredibly grateful for your support! Every donation helps us provide a more comfortable environment for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at the facility during open hours:
Thursday–Friday: 1 PM–4 PM,
Saturday: 11 AM–4 PM

Can't make it during business hours? Donations can also be left anytime in our donation bin located at the front of HSEC!

We're packing up the treats, finalizing the dogs, and getting ready for Ricci Rescues in the Park tomorrow!
