There’s no better time to open your heart and home to a shelter pet! 💛 To celebrate, Bond County Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for all cats age 1 year and older throughout June!

Meet Venus 🌙🐱
Venus is a beautiful 2-year-old orange female who has already shown what a loving companion she can be. She first came to a family as a stray, pregnant and needing help. She gave birth to two kittens in their bathroom, and once her kittens were old enough, they brought Venus to BCHS so she could find a forever home of her own.

After moving into a foster home, Venus slowly came out of her shell. At first she was shy, but before long she was greeting her foster family, enjoying being held, and purring her way into their hearts. Her foster mom says Venus has a very sweet spirit. 💕

Venus is a quiet, low-maintenance girl who loves pets, enjoys self-play, and has never been aggressive. She may still be a little unsure around loud noises and new people, but with patience and love, she blossoms. She’s now back at the shelter, getting comfortable with the other cats and enjoying attention from volunteers.

Venus is ready for a family who will give her the love and security she deserves. 🏡❤️

She is:

✅ Up to date on vaccinations
✅ FeLV/FIV tested
✅ Treated for internal & external parasites
✅ Microchipped

Pearl, the 5-month-old tabby and white shorthair kitten, found her furever mom on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Petco in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Pearl and her siblings were found in a box and surrendered to Bond County Humane Society. She only weighed 9 ounces when she came into the shelter, but grew quickly into a healthy and energetic girl. Pearl is a snuggler and always eager for those pet-pets. Happy Tails Pearl! Your future is brighter now! 💗 BCHS holds regular pet adoption events at the Fairview Heights Petco on Saturdays AND at our Greenville Shelter Office during public hours.

This year marks a century on the same property for the beloved Purina Farms. The milestone reflects decades of research, education, and public engagement, as well as setting a standard for pet care nutrition and innovation.

One of the highlights of this year’s programming is the Bark Tie Gala on August 22, an evening featuring wine tastings and auctions that support the Coalition for Pet Progress, an alliance of animal-centric nonprofits serving the St. Louis region. The event brings together pet owners, supporters, and community partners to raise funds for local animal welfare organizations - including Bond County Humane Society!

Delta, the 9-month-old tortoiseshell shorthair kitten, found her furever mom on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Petco in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Delta and her siblings were born to a feral mom and surrendered to Bond County Humane Society. We placed them into a foster home. Delta’s foster mom told us, “She’s shy but sweet; once she’s earned your trust, she is a purr machine! She barely sheds and her fur is silky smooth. When the sun hits her eyes and orange fur patches, they just glow! So gorgeous! She’s on the small side and loves to make those biscuits.” Thank you for giving our kitty gal a new home!! You can also stop in to visit with cats and kittens at BCHS's Greenville shelter M,Tu,Th,F 1-5pm, or by appointment. If you are interested in a dog or a feline in foster, please fill out an application, get approved, and we'll arrange a meet & greet for you! All June long, cats 1 year and older are FREE, that's right, adoption fees waived, approved applications still required.

All adoptions are subject to the application process and the availability of adoption counselors. All BCHS pets are spayed or neutered, UTD on vaccinations, tested for FeLV/FIV (cats), treated for internal and external parasites, and microchipped.
