I am finding the courage to post about this now. Iām still struggling, but Iām doing my best.
This past Sunday, September 6th, was a whirlwind of unfortunate events for us. I couldnāt make this up if I tried. I wish it was fiction. š³
That morning, Bryan and I set out to Loweās to buy out some flooring in a couple of stores. Sadly, the flooring we picked is being discontinued. What luck! š
After picking up about 30+ boxes and loading them in the back of Bryanās truck, he filled his tank and we began our trek to the next store.
We were at a lighted intersection turning left and we had the green light. A woman in a Prius was coming from our left and ran the red light and ran into us. We both noticed the impending collision just a little too late, BUT it was not fast enough to deploy airbags. The load in the back shifted forward and smashed his rear window clean out. No one was hurt.
We managed to get out of the intersection to inspect the damage and call police. I got out to start taking pictures as Bryan was talking to the other driver, who thanked him for not yelling at her.
I came out of his truck butt first as I was grabbing my phone. My left foot landed on the edge of the asphalt wrong and wound up breaking my middle toe. I canāt tell you how many times I have randomly broken my toes. šš³ Iām used to it by now anyways.
Truck was still drivable, but we rented a U-Haul to finish our mission of getting all the flooring we could.
We got home and later that evening, Valerie and the girls with their bull terrier, Flynt came to visit. Flynt has been here before.
We were all outside and we heard some growling, Bryan went in to make sure Flynt and Carter did not get into a scuffle.
At this pointā¦.things are still a little bit of a blur.
I was still outside, Valerie was getting Flynt. They did lunge at each other. Bryan held Carter man back and Valerie had Flynt. Bryan, VERY CALMLY said āsomeone lost an eyeā.
Now, mind youā¦my brain went to someone made contact and was bleeding and that Bryan was speaking figuratively.
When I came fully into the house towards the kitchen to get something for blood, I turn around and saw it. There was an eye ON THE FLOOR in front of Bryan and Carter. I inspected and it was Carterās. He was not crying or making a noise. Just a little bit of blood from where his eye used to be.
We took Carter and his eye to the ER.
After they looked at him and the eye, there were no bite marks to be seen. Not even on his eye. It completely came out! We have no idea how. All the doctors are baffled at how this happened. Usually, the eye is still attached, but not this time.
During his surgery, his blood pressure went down and his heart stopped. They did a reversal on the sedation and CPR and brought him back!
Carter man is doing pretty well considering. He did get out of his cone while I was sleeping and scratched it, now it is a little infected. I just took him back in to get it looked at. The doc took one of the stitches out to allow it to drain from when he scratched it.
Me on the other handā¦I have been suffering with an episode of depression for nearly a month. Saw my doctor today and he is doing a GeneSight metabolic test to make sure I am on the right medication. A couple of months ago I had switched to a medication in the same family as my original because Tricare express scripts was out of stock. I did not want to be without. Sadly, I do believe this created a beast and now I am not myself.
The universe has been cruel. Iām doing my best to plow through it.
**We are not mad at Flynt OR Carter. This was just the freakiest accident we have ever encountered!
