As our dogs get older, their joints can start to show the effects of years of running, playing, and simply getting around. Joint stiffness and arthritis are common in senior dogs, but slowing down doesn’t have to mean giving up the activities they love! 💙

Keep an eye out for signs of joint discomfort, such as:

🐾 Difficulty getting up or lying down
🐾 Stiffness after resting
🐾 Reluctance to climb stairs or jump
🐾 Limping or an altered gait
🐾 Less interest in playing or going for walks
🐾 Taking longer to get comfortable
🐾 Acting differently when certain areas are touched

✨ What can you do? Maintaining a healthy weight, providing regular low-impact exercise, and talking with your veterinarian about appropriate joint-support options can all help keep your senior pup moving comfortably.

Your pet’s paws take a lot of wear and tear, but they’re easy to overlook!

Regularly check your pet’s paws for:
🐾 Cracked or split paw pads
🐾 Redness or irritation between the toes
🐾 Overgrown nails
🐾 Foreign objects like thorns or grass awns
🐾 Lumps, bumps, or areas that seem painful

💡 Pro Tip: Get your pet comfortable with having their feet handled from an early age. Gently touching and inspecting their paws regularly can make nail trims, paw exams, and veterinary visits much less stressful!

Other signs to watch for include:

🐾 Sensitivity or pain when the ears are touched

Ear infections can be caused by yeast, bacteria, allergies, parasites, or other underlying problems, so treatment isn’t always one-size-fits-all. That’s why it’s important to have your pet’s ears examined rather than reaching for leftover medication or trying to treat the infection at home.
