I am always humbled by reading reviews that my clients leave for me. I appreciate their kind words and how I helped to make them feel safe and supported. Allowing someone into your home, your private space, can be scary. I am honored that so many people have allowed me to work in their home with them and have trusted me with their belongings, their emotions and their memories. I truly love what I do!

Full review: "Working with Jen from Neat Nesting was wonderful. She met me exactly where I was, worked at my pace, and gently guided me to let go of things I no longer needed—never pushy, always supportive.

I especially appreciated her commitment to environmental sustainability. She took items with her to recycle or donate responsibly. My home is more organized and tidier thanks to her thoughtful approach. I highly recommend her." - Lauren W.

I hear the same story from my clients over and over again when it comes to donations.

“I set aside items for donation, put them in a pile by the door, then they sit there for 6 months just waiting until I can find time to drop them off.”

“I don’t know where to donate, how to donate or what items a charity will or won’t take. I want them to go to a good cause.”

“The few places I do know that take donations, only take them during certain hours or by appointment, which is hard to fit into my schedule.”

“Some charities even require me to send photos of the items before donation, then schedule an appointment to drop them off.”

What if you didn’t have to worry about the donation process at all? What if someone else did all the work for you to get your items to the right place?

I do that for my clients.

I take away donations at the end of each session, I send photos and schedule donation appointments, then I drop off the donations for my client.

I do it all.

I'm pretty sure every single client I've ever worked with has said these words to me.

Every. Single. One.

When you're living with chronic disorganization, it's common to lose things regularly. You suffer through the stress of knowing you have something, but can't find it if your life depended on it.

You waste so much time, energy and sanity looking for missing items and eventually give up and buy a replacement. So now you've wasted money too. Frustration doesn't begin to cover it.

When I work with my clients to declutter and organize their homes, we inevitably find items they've been missing and often the item they purchased to replace it as well. I help them to choose which items to keep and then create new organizational systems to prevent this from happening again.

If you're feeling frustrated with your home and tired of losing things, DM me or visit my website contact page so we can connect and set up a free intro call and in-home consultation.

When working with a new client, one of the first questions I ask is "What's your goal for this space?" It helps both myself and my client to get a clearer picture of what we want to accomplish together and what their vision is for the space when we're done. Knowing your goal means you can make defined steps to get there and make regular progress. If you don't know your goal, then you're just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks.

So take some time to determine your goal for the space you want to organize. Really think about what feelings you want to feel (or not feel) when in the room and what problems you have now that you'd like to solve. Next, ask yourself, "what can I do today to get a step closer to my goal?"

Take one small step. Don't try to solve the problem all at once. Don't put off working towards the goal until you have hours of time to do the whole project at once. Don't overwhelm yourself thinking about how much needs to get done in order to get to your goal. Just take one step and enjoy the fact that you're one step closer to your goal than you were yesterday.

Have you always struggled with disorganization? Do you keep thinking you just need to try harder to maintain systems and then you'll get the Pinterest closet of your dreams? Do you keep trying all the "top organizing tips" from the magazines and wondering why it doesn't work for you?

You might be chronically disorganized... and that's ok. The issue isn't you. You are NOT broken. The issue is that your brain works differently so the popular organizing methods just don't work for you.

What you need is a custom system designed for how YOUR brain works. You need to stop trying to change yourself to fit the organizing system and start changing the system to fit you.

If you want different results you need to do different things. Let's try something different together. Let me come into your home and work with you to come up with a system designed for you and your family. Let's accept you as you are and create a system designed around you, not the other way around.

Happy Pride Month and happy International LGBTQIA+ Pride Day to everyone!

Love is love. At our core, we are all humans, and we are all worthy of love and respect.

My favorite tip of all of these? "Less stuff is less drama." It's true and it's the biggest change you can make in order to create a more calming and peaceful home. Decreasing the amount of things you own decreases the amount of work you need to do to maintain your space. Decluttering things you don't use or love can take a literal weight off your shoulders.

Let's take a look at the other tips:
- Use clear containers: With ADHD, you need to see things to remember they exist, so having clear containers is a must.
- Create visual systems: Just like the clear containers, it's important to make your systems very visual so nothing is out of sight, out of mind.
- Set a timer for 5 minutes: Task initiation is a struggle for ADHDers so if you set a very short timer and just do what you can in that time, it is less overwhelming than trying to start a large project with no end time.
- Reward yourself for small wins: A lack of dopamine is a hallmark of ADHD brains so it's important to reward yourself regularly with even the smallest wins. In fact, I often suggest you reward yourself before completing a task because then your brain has the dopamine it needs to do the hard things.
- Label, label, label: This ties into the idea of making sure everything is visible and also taking the cognitive load off your brain to try and remember where everything goes. Decision fatigue sets in fast so if you don't need to decide where something goes because a label just tells you where it should go, then your brain has more energy for more important things.

Which of these tips is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Hiring a professional organizer might seem like an expense you can't afford, but if you're wasting time every day looking for things and your stress levels are higher because you feel disorganized and overwhelmed, then hiring a professional to help you will save you time. It will save you time during the actual process of organization and creating new systems, as well as save you time in your every day life once you're organized. Time is our most important resource and we can't get it back. Spend it on the things and people you love, not on organizing your home.
