🐾 This week, we're celebrating our veterinary technicians! ❤️
When you bring your pet to Greentown Animal Hospital, there's a lot of care happening behind the scenes. Our veterinary technicians help keep patients comfortable, monitor their care, support the doctor, and lend a reassuring hand when someone need a little extra help.

Their knowledge, patience, and compassion truly make a difference to the animals we care for and the families who love them.

Please join us in thanking our beloved veterinary technicians, and Vet Techs EVERYWHERE for all they do, today and throughout the year! 🐶🐱

Time for some fun! TAG a friend who is completely devoted to their pet. ❤️
You know the ones.
Their pet has "their chair." Probably a bed. Definitely a spot on the couch.
Their phone "gallery" is 85% pet pictures.
Their pet IS a member of the family.
No judgment. We get it.

Top Habit #7 – Lifelong Commitment
The great news? Lifelong commitment doesn't have to feel overwhelming. It can be as simple as keeping a mental calendar for the everyday things your dog needs, and a written calendar for the things that come around less often, like medications, preventive care, and wellness visits.

Now look at how all these habits fit together as a picture of a healthy, happy life for your canine companion:
🐾 Preventive Care: Regular wellness care helps catch problems early and keeps your dog healthier as the years go by.
🐾 Healthy Weight & Nutrition: Good nutrition and a healthy weight help support energy, mobility, and long-term health.
🐾 Recognizing Pain & Illness: Knowing what’s normal for your dog helps you recognize changes and get problems addressed before they become bigger ones.
🐾 Good Dental Health: Taking care of those teeth and gums helps prevent pain and keeps your dog more comfortable.
🐾 Exercise & Enrichment: Keeping your dog’s body and mind active helps them stay engaged, capable, and happy.
🐾 Safety & Identification: Good safety habits, solid ID, and a little preparation can help protect your dog and give you peace of mind.
And finally, Lifelong Commitment ❤️, which ties them all together.

Because lifelong commitment isn't one big thing we do for our dogs. It's all the little things we keep doing, day after day, year after year. And that's what being a responsible dog owner is really all about. ❤️🐾

September may be over, but responsible dog ownership never goes out of season! Top Habit #6 – Safety & Identification:

Here’s a question every dog owner should be able to answer: If your dog got loose today, could someone get them back to you?
A collar with a current ID tag is still one of the quickest ways to get a lost dog home. A microchip gives you a permanent backup if that collar gets lost or comes off. Having both is a pretty simple way to give your dog a much better chance of finding their way home.

And then there’s safety. A secure leash and harness, keeping your dog under control, and having a plan for those unexpected situations can help keep everybody out of trouble.

Leash AND harness? Well, even a friendly, well-behaved dog can suddenly take off after something interesting and give their owner a pretty good workout trying to hang on!

So take a minute to check your dog's ID tag, make sure the microchip information is current, and take a look at your dog's leash and harness. It’s a dose of preparation that could make a huge difference when you need it.

Top Habit #5 – Exercise & Enrichment

(Happy Friday! This weekend might be a great time to start a new exercise or enrichment habit with your dogs!)

So, what’s your dog’s favorite way to get moving and have some fun? A favorite game, a good sniffing adventure, chasing a ball, solving a puzzle? Tell us in the comments what gets your dog’s tail wagging!

Exercise keeps dogs moving, but enrichment keeps their minds moving, too! Regular walks, playtime, games, and age-appropriate activities can help your dog stay fit, engaged, curious, and happy. You don’t need a marathon every day. A little exercise and mental stimulation can be all it takes to make your dog’s day better.

Continuing with AKC Responsible Dog Owners Month!
Top Habit #4: Good Dental Health
Your dog’s dental health is about more than fresh breath. Regular brushing can help control plaque and tartar, but dental disease can lead to pain, infection, damaged teeth, and sometimes the need for extractions. Professional dental cleanings can catch and treat problems that brushing alone can’t. If your dog is due for a dental exam, give us a call. (765) 628-7834.
