We are experienced dog training company that offers variety of group training classes, as well as one on one training opportunities. Youngwood Top Dog Services is a dog training company with over 60 years of professional dog training experience. We offer an elite therapy dog school as well as a service dog program. We offer 1-1 training at your home or at a private room at our training facility. W

e offer Drop off Appointments where you drop your dog with a Top Dog trainer and let us apply the training needed most. We offer group classes at two separate locations including: Puppy classes, Group level 1 class, Advanced Level 2, Advanced Level 3, Outdoor Recall, Trail classes, , Intro Agility, Therapy dog preparation school, canine good citizen classes, AKC star puppy, Advanced Walking with Distractions, Nose Work, Felon Search, Search & Rescue, Tools class, Loose Leash Class, and many more! Training Prices start at $100 per session for local clients for private appointments.

🎓🐾 CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEWEST AKC URBAN CGC GRADUATES! 🐾🎓

We are incredibly proud to congratulate our most recent graduates who successfully completed their AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (Urban CGC) training!

The AKC Urban CGC is about taking obedience beyond the training room and putting those skills to work where they really matter — out in the real world!

Throughout their training, these teams worked on skills including:

🐕 Walking politely through busy public areas
🚶 Navigating crowds and distractions
🚪 Entering and exiting buildings appropriately
🐾 Maintaining control around other dogs and people
🚗 Demonstrating good manners around streets, sidewalks and parking areas
🪑 Settling calmly in public environments
👀 Staying engaged with their handlers despite real-world distractions
🏙️ Building the confidence and obedience needed to be successful out in the community

These accomplishments don’t happen overnight. They take practice, patience, consistency and teamwork between the dog and handler.

🐕‍🦺💙 MEET SERVICE DOG IN TRAINING CALYPSO! 💙🐕‍🦺

We are so excited to introduce everyone to one of our younger Service Dogs in Training here at Youngwood Top Dog Services — Calypso! 🐾

Calypso is a young female Yellow Labrador Retriever who began her journey with us by completing her AKC/ATT temperament evaluation — and she passed with flying colors! ⭐️

Because Calypso is still a puppy, we’re taking our time and building her training from the ground up. A successful Service Dog isn’t created overnight! It takes consistency, proper exposure, obedience, task training, education and plenty of real-world experience.

🐾 SO WHAT IS CALYPSO WORKING ON?

✋ Hand Signals & Clear Handler Communication
♿ Education for her handler on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), public-access rights, responsibilities and the questions businesses are legally permitted to ask a Service Dog handler.

As Calypso gets older, we’ll continue advancing her obedience and begin putting much more emphasis on Public Access Training in real-world environments.

We also have future plans for mobility task training. Because Calypso is still growing, we’re allowing her body to properly mature before introducing physically demanding mobility work. There is plenty we can teach her now to prepare her for those future tasks!

Our Service Dog Training process begins with a meet-and-greet, evaluation and temperament testing to help determine whether a dog is an appropriate candidate for Service Dog work.

Teams that qualify can then progress through our five-phase Service Dog Training Program, building from foundation and obedience into task training, public access work and advanced Service Dog skills.

🐾 What an AMAZING day at Bark in the Boro! 🐾

Our Youngwood Top Dog Services team and Working Dogs Westmoreland Club had a fantastic time yesterday at the 5th Annual Bark in the Boro in beautiful Ligonier, hosted by Paws on Main!

This event truly gets bigger and better every year! 👏 The volunteers and organizers do such a tremendous job bringing everything together and creating a fun, welcoming event for dogs, families, local businesses, and organizations throughout our community.

🙏 One of the highlights of the day was when our Top Dog owner and Working Dogs Westmoreland Club leader had the honor of continuing the annual tradition of providing the Pet Blessing at the Diamond. It was a special opportunity to pause, give thanks, and pray over the animals who bring so much love and joy into our lives. ❤️🐶

🐕‍🦺 Our Working Dogs Westmoreland Service Dog Team also had the opportunity to provide a live task demonstration! Our teams demonstrated how Service Dogs can be trained to retrieve and recover a variety of different items for their handlers — showing the public just one of the many incredible ways properly trained Service Dogs can assist their owners in everyday life.

The turnout was incredible! There were so many vendors supporting the event, a HUGE crowd throughout the day, beautiful weather, plenty of dogs, and lots of smiling faces! ☀️🐾

A huge THANK YOU to Paws on Main, all of the volunteers, vendors, sponsors, participants, and everyone who came out and supported Bark in the Boro!

We are proud to be part of events like this that bring together dogs, education, local organizations, businesses, and our community.

We already can’t wait for Bark in the Boro next year! 🐾❤️
