🔔ANNOUCEMENT🔔

We are shutting down intakes (strays and surrenders) and adoptions for CATS for the next two weeks. We have had a few kittens contract Calicivirus. Calicivirus is a virus that causes Upper Respiratory symptoms and mouth ulcers. This virus is highly contagious. If our overall cat population is back to normal health at the end of these two weeks, we will reopen on June 23rd. In addition, we will not have cats available for adoption at this Saturday's adoption event.

Calicivirus does NOT affect the dogs! All of our dogs are still available for adoption however, visitors will not be permitted to walk through the kennel. Staff will bring dogs out of their kennel for meet and greets.

Do not forget our Adoption Event THIS SATURDAY at Feeders Pet Supply Greensburg. We will have $40 dogs and $20 cats on site available for adoption. Our dogs and cats are ready to be your summer buddy and help you create exciting new Tails of Summer to last a lifetime. We cannot wait to see you all there.

UPDATE: Menace is now in foster!

This handsome man has just undergone a pretty big surgery! Menace had a large hernia removed along with being neutered. He is currently at the shelter, but we’d LOVE to find a foster for him while he is in recovery! Fostering is free of charge and we provide everything you would need. Do you have room for Menace?? Shout out to Keisha and @ Daisy's Doggie Daycare & Kennels Greensburg for helping us with Eira this week.

The Shelter says all the time that it takes a village to help all these furbabies that enter our doors. Eira has been no exception. This poor baby was dumped off of 3 near the Rush County Line, a witness observed someone simply opening their car door, and letting poor Eira out and driving off. We do not know her backstory, but thankfully we know her future will be as bright as possible. Eira needs some medical evaluations as she also has several masses that need addressed. Therefore, she is requiring special care going forward.

Eira is an elderly gal, at least 10. She needs massive dental work, and her coat was so matted it took 2 days to get her cleaned up. Her dew claws were painfully long and digging her skin. Despite this, Eira remains a gentle soul. She is sweet, patient, loving, and just wants to be everyone's friend. Keisha spent 2 days getting this girl cleaned up. Daisy's Doggie Daycare & Kennels is always ready and willing to help the Shelter in any way they can and we are so thankful for them all.

Eira is headed to Oinking Acres Farm Animal Rescue where she will receive the care and attention she needs, for as long as she needs! We also thank you all at the rescue for stepping in, so fast for this girl. We cannot wait to follow her Journey!
