Vision: The Friends of the Greensburg & Decatur County Animal Shelter is committed to creating a more compassionate community, where Decatur County citizens value companion pets and supports the goals of the Greensburg & Decatur County Animal Shelter to decrease the suffering, abuse, neglect, and abandonment of animals. We are devoted to supporting the shelter and to increase positive outcomes and reducing euthanasia rates through both funding opportunities and through education.

Today - September 5, 2026 - is the International Day of Charity!

Today is the perfect opportunity to volunteer your talents, your hands, your time, or your finances to help others.

You can walk dogs at the shelter. You can fold laundry or do dishes. You can clean cat kennels. You can donate items on their wish list. You can donate $5 towards the new shelter campaign.

What a fantastic day on Saturday as we participated in the first Minde Myers’ Tails and Trails Memorial Ride! 🛞

We had 24 Jeeps and bikes on this ride! We didn’t know what to expect, especially with so many things happening in the community on the same day/weekend.

Thank you to the Friends of the Greensburg-Decatur Co. Animal Shelter board for all the planning that went into this! Thank you to the shelter staff for being some of the hardest workers out there - we are glad you could be a part of the day!

Thank you to everyone who registered, bought meal tickets, and bid in the silent auctions!

Thank you to everyone who made baskets for the silent auction!

Thank you to Cindy Pinson and the crew at Link’s for a fantastic pork chop dinner and last stop to end the day!

Thank you to Bryant’s Bar and Grill and C & P Tavern for being stops on the ride!

Thank you to Ally Sullivan for being our law enforcement for the day and stopping traffic at all major intersections to keep us safe and keep the group together throughout the ride!

We are another day closer to the weekend which also means another day closer to Minde Myers’ Tails and Trails Memorial Ride! 🛞

Online registration is closed but day of registration opens at 10:00AM on Saturday morning! The weather forecast is looking perfect so come on out and enjoy a fun day! ☀️

Can’t make the ride but still gotta eat dinner? Join us at Link’s Tavern for dinner at 5:30! Stick around for the 50/50 raffle and silent auction!

As Dolly Parton reminds us, “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”

At the Friends of the Greensburg & Decatur County Animal Shelter, we believe our community’s animals deserve that same kind of unconditional love.

Every dog, cat, puppy, and kitten that comes through our local shelter deserves a chance to feel safe, loved, and cared for. 🐾 Whether it’s providing food, supporting medical needs, helping with TNR, fundraising for shelter improvements, or simply giving an animal a little extra love, we’re here because we believe every animal matters.

Dolly has always shown us that kindness can make a difference—and we’re putting that belief into action right here in Decatur County.
