Had the opportunity to perform a laparoscopic ovariectomy on a 6 year old patient today. We were able to keep the incision to an inch when removing the ovaries that were as big as human ovaries. That’s my hand for reference, and she was up and walking in an hour like nothing happened. Typically for a dog this age the incision would be at least 6-12 inches.

PSA: I’m going to be taking some 4 day weekends coming up august, and October and December. No not for vacation, for classes. We will be working on the masterclass hind limb orthopedic correction, masterclass TPLO class, now that we have 100 TPLO’s under our belt, it’s time to finish our skills on the complicated cruciate tears, and finally we will be taking a class on a hip toggle specifically for traumatic hip luxation. FYI there are no clinics in Westmorland county that are able to offer what our clinic offers as a general practice. It’s been a lot of work, and long weekends, but we’re excited where this is going to help the community! Sorry for any inconvenience. Please be kind to the nicest technicians and receptionists while I’m gone.

We haven’t posted any new content in a while! Why? Well, we’ve been a little busy learning new stuff! This is minimally invasive biopsy of a bladder! Super cool! No incisions, minimal bleeding, and immediate return to activity! There are no other practices in Westmorland County that offers minimally invasive procedures. If you had to have surgery you would want minimal pain and zero recovery time, why wouldn’t you want that for your pet?
