❤️ A Special Home for Skipper ❤️
After a lot of thought, we have decided to begin looking for the right forever family for our sweet girl, Skipper.
Skipper is 2 years old and was originally produced by a breeder friend of mine using our bloodlines. She was placed into what everyone believed would be a wonderful forever home. Unfortunately, her previous living situation ended up involving extended periods of time confined to a small playpen with very limited interaction and stimulation.
I want to make it very clear that this was NOT at the hands of her breeder. As breeders, we can ask questions, check references, have contracts, and do everything possible to carefully choose families, but unfortunately, we can never completely know what happens after one of our dogs leaves our care. Once her breeder became aware of the situation, Skipper was taken back, and she eventually came to us. ❤️
Skipper has now been with our family for over 6 months, and we have gotten to know her very well. She is a sweet girl who enjoys attention, loves to play, and can settle down and relax with her people. She is house trained and crate trained.
I also want to be completely transparent about something her future family needs to understand. Because of her previous environment, Skipper developed a habit of spinning/circling when she isn’t occupied and sometimes while she is crated. She can be redirected very easily—when we call her or give her something else to do, she stops and is able to settle. It is simply something her future family will need to understand and continue working with her on.
Skipper originally came to us with the possibility of becoming part of our breeding program because she comes from our bloodlines. After a lot of consideration, I have decided that isn’t the life I want for her. I would much rather see her spend the rest of her life simply being someone’s loved and spoiled companion. ❤️
Skipper is up to date on her vaccinations and preventatives, and she will be spayed before transitioning to her new family.
We are looking for a family who will give her plenty of interaction, enrichment, patience, consistency, and most importantly, love. Her past is part of her story, but it isn’t all that Skipper is.
Finding the RIGHT home is much more important to us than finding one quickly. We will be very selective because our goal is for the next family Skipper joins to truly be her forever family.
If Skipper’s story speaks to you and you believe your home may be a good fit for her, please send us a private message and tell us a little about yourself, your household, other pets, and what everyday life would look like for Skipper with your family. ❤️🐾
