Veterinary Appreciation Spotlight: Our Patient Care Team! 🐾🩺

From comforting nervous patients to assisting with treatments, monitoring recovery, cleaning kennels, taking vital signs, holding paws, giving medications, and doing all the little things that make a BIG difference, our Patient Care Team is always there for our patients.

They work behind the scenes and right alongside our doctors to make sure every pet receives the attention, care, and compassion they deserve.

Their days can be busy, messy, unpredictable, and occasionally covered in fur… but they show up every day ready to care for our patients like they were their own.

Thank you to our incredible Patient Care Team for your dedication, hard work, and endless love for the animals in our care. You are an essential part of the Southwoods family!

Yesterday, our team got to spend some rare quality time together for our annual Staff Appreciation Week luncheon.
We were treated to a tasty lunch by one of our amazing business partners and got to flex our creative skills making mosaic paw print art.

Behind every diagnosis, treatment plan, surgery, difficult conversation, team decision, and successful patient outcome is a group of people carrying an enormous amount of responsibility and we are incredibly grateful for ours.

Our DVMs bring their knowledge, experience, compassion, and dedication to every patient who walks through our doors. Our Management Team works tirelessly to support our staff, our clients, and the daily operations that keep Southwoods moving forward.

Together, they lead with the shared goal of helping pets live longer, happier, healthier lives. 🐶🐱

Veterinary Appreciation Spotlight: Our Customer Service Representatives!📞

They’re often the very first friendly voice you hear and the last smiling face you see and they do SO much more than answer phones!

Our Customer Service Representatives keep the day moving, help coordinate appointments, communicate with clients, juggle schedules, answer questions, and provide compassion and reassurance when our clients need it most.

They are the connection between our clients, their pets, and the rest of our veterinary team and we couldn’t do what we do without them!

Thank you to our amazing CSR team for bringing patience, kindness, organization, and plenty of smiles to Southwoods every day. We appreciate you!

The veterinary profession is built on compassion, but caring for others can sometimes mean forgetting to care for ourselves.

Veterinary professionals face unique pressures every day: long hours, emotional cases, compassion fatigue, difficult conversations, financial constraints, staffing challenges, and the heartbreak that comes with caring deeply for our patients and their families.

According to research highlighted by Not One More Vet (NOMV), veterinary support staff have reported serious psychological distress at rates even higher than veterinarians. And NOMV reports that 1 in 6 veterinarians considers su***de at some point during their career.

That’s why organizations like Not One More Vet are so important.

NOMV’s mission is to “transform the status of mental wellness within the profession so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources, and support.”

At Southwoods, we believe that supporting our team means supporting the people behind the medicine, too.
