Found wandering a local middle school, Mildred is a calm soul still looking for a home 🩷

This sweet 8-year-old weighs just 46 pounds and is our low-energy shelter sweetheart. Mildred was found wandering near a local middle school with a few bumps and scars, but she was friendly from the very beginning and hasn’t stopped winning people over since.

She walks beautifully on leash, enjoys taking her time to sniff and explore, and is perfectly content spending an afternoon relaxing by your side 🥰 She loves treats, welcomes affection with enthusiasm, and will gladly accept all the back scratches you have to offer.

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance best friend who still has plenty of love to give, Mildred may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for 🐾❤️

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet/adopt, visit us in Greensboro, NC from 12-4pm any day except Tuesdays; no appointment needed.

KITTEN FOSTERS NEEDED ‼️🐈‍⬛

Our shelter is currently caring for so many underage kittens who aren’t quite ready for adoption yet. Before they can officially go home, they have to be at least 2 months old or weigh 2 pounds.

Until then, they’re looking for foster homes where they can grow, play, nap, and enjoy all the comforts of home while they get a little bigger.

We’re looking for foster families in Guilford County to help care for these kittens until they’re adoption-ready. The shelter provides all food, supplies, and veterinary care… you simply provide a safe place for them to stay 🩷

Not able to foster? Sharing this post helps these little ones find the temporary homes they need 🐱💕

Ham Sammich wants to spend her 1st birthday on your couch instead of a kennel 🥺💙

At just 11 months old, this 57-pound bundle of happiness is equal parts playful puppy and devoted best friend. She loves toys, happily plays fetch, and is always ready for the next adventure.

She already knows “sit,” rides well in the car, and is happiest when she’s close to her people 🥰 She loves meeting new friends, did well around children during her outing, and greets the world with loose wags and an open heart.

As a young dog, she can get excited and occasionally jump up or be a little mouthy when she’s having fun, so she may be the best fit for a home with older kids who can help her continue learning her manners.

If you’re looking for a joyful, affectionate sidekick who wants to be part of everything you do, Ham Sammich is ready to move in and start loving you immediately 🐾

Meet the dogs who have been waiting the longest at the shelter for a family‼️🐾

At the shelter, Coppertone currently holds the title of longest on-site resident at 82 days, followed by a handful of other pups who have been waiting a little longer than the rest.

Day after day, they greet visitors, go for walks, enjoy time with volunteers, and wait for their turn. They may not know how many days they’ve been here… but we do.

Our longest resident overall Rocko has been in our care for 244 days and is currently enjoying life in foster care while he waits for an adopter 💙

Take a look through our gallery and help us get these faces homes.

Brody waited 190 days for a family & now you’d never know he spent a day without one 🥹❤️

Brody first came to us after being found hanging out on a stranger’s porch and was friendly from day one. He quickly became a favorite around the shelter, but as the months went on, shelter life started catching up to him.

He wasn’t eating as much, started getting a little too skinny, and was more than ready to trade his kennel for a couch.

Then his family came along.

From day one, his adopters say Brody acted like he’d been waiting for them 🥰 He fell for his human sisters, his fur sisters, and pretty much everything about having a home.

Looking at him now, it’s hard to believe there was ever a time when nobody was coming for him. We’re so grateful that Brody has finally found a cozy place to call his home 🩷

Coppertone’s Day Out report is in: 10/10 would hang out again ❤️🐾

Coppertone left the shelter for a day off and immediately started collecting fans. From car rides to zoomies at a Sniffspot, Coppertone was an affectionate, easygoing companion.

He rode well in the car, enjoyed treats and toys, showed off his manners, and happily soaked up attention everywhere he went 🥰

His day trip buddy described him as sweet, loving, and a joy to spend time with. Coppertone also appears house trained and did EXCELLENT for his bath at All Pet’s Considered.

Coppertone would love a home where he can be your adventure buddy by day and cuddle buddy by night 💙

We gave our black pets their red carpet moment & they made the night unforgettable 🖤

Our black dogs got the star treatment, strutted down the red carpet, met new people, and soaked up plenty of well-deserved attention during our very first Black Tail Event.

A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, adopters, and supporters who made it all possible 🐈‍⬛ Our last black cat found a home before the event even started!

We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to support these incredible pets. These black pups are all available for adoption and still looking for families

If your favorite kind of dog is the one quietly following you around all day, Friendly might be your guy 😉🐾

Friendly is a 2-year-old, 38 lb pup who came in a little unsure and quickly settled into just… being Friendly.

He’s wiggly at the kennel front, waggy, and easy to leash 🦮 On walks he’s steady and easygoing, not reactive, just kind of taking everything in. He shows some initial shyness, but he warms up pretty quickly once he’s with someone.

He’s not really toy-driven and wasn’t super into treats today, but he’s very people-focused. He’ll follow along outside, stay close, and is clearly more interested in hanging near you than anything else ❤️ Takes affection well and leans into pets and head rubs like he’s been waiting for that part specifically.

Low energy, simple, no drama type of dog. Would likely do best with someone who likes a calm, close companion who doesn’t need much convincing to stick by your side 🥰

While other dogs get adopted around her, Diva keeps waiting patiently for her people 🐾🩷

Diva is a 5 year old, 41 lb girl who has somehow been overlooked despite being one of the sweetest dogs around.

She arrived at the shelter with scars on her face and legs, but whatever she's been through hasn't changed her kind, gentle personality 🥹 Diva can be a little shy at first, but once she's comfortable, she's affectionate, loyal, and happy to stay close to her people.

She's house trained, rides great in the car, does well for baths, and walks nicely once she settles into a pace 🐕‍🦺 She knows sit, takes treats gently, loves playing fetch, and has been friendly with other dogs. After a good walk or some playtime, she's usually ready to relax and enjoy a nap.

Diva isn't the dog demanding attention from the front of the kennel. She's the dog quietly waiting for someone to notice her.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.
