So… we’re doing a Battle of the Bands.

And honestly? We’re ridiculously excited about it.

SPCA of the Triad is hosting our very first Riffs for Rescues: A Battle of the Bands, and we’re looking for bands who want to play for a crowd, have fun, save homeless animals, and maybe earn some serious bragging rights along the way.

This isn’t one of those “my friend’s uncle is the judge” situations either. We’ve got legit industry judges involved, which makes this a pretty cool opportunity for local bands to get in front of people who actually know music.

If your band has been looking for an excuse to get on stage, this is it.

If you know a local band that deserves more attention, tag them below. Seriously.

Help us spread the word.

>>Registration deadline is July 6
>> Limited spots available
>> We definitely recommend signing up early

And the best part? Every dollar raised helps SPCA of the Triad continue caring for homeless animals in our community.

Music saving lives. We’re into it.

💫🐾Say hello to Rachel—a playful, bright-eyed pup bursting with personality and charm! She absolutely thrives around other dogs and shines in social settings, making her a fantastic companion for a multi-dog home or anyone looking for a fun-loving furry friend. Whether she’s bouncing around with her canine buddies or soaking up the excitement of being out and about, Rachel brings nonstop joy, energy, and just the right amount of sass. And those ears? Total showstoppers.

Rachel is a female mixed-breed born in September 2025, and she’s expected to grow into a medium-sized dog when fully grown. She’s still very much a puppy, with all the curiosity, playfulness, and learning that comes with it.

She’s already doing pretty well on a leash and enjoys getting out to explore the world. Rachel is super smart and food motivated, which makes training a breeze—and even fun! Like many young pups, she can be a little mouthy, but she redirects easily and is eager to please. With her sweet nature, social spirit, and sparkling personality, Rachel is ready to find a home where she can truly shine. ✨

Adopting from the SPCA of the Triad means giving your new companion a healthy and happy start! Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchipping, age-appropriate vaccinations, and heartworm testing —so you can feel confident your furry friend is ready for their new home.

Meet Rhubarb, a stunning Dilute Tortoiseshell and Domestic Short Hair mix who is officially stepping into her main character era. This lovely lady came to us from a local shelter as a devoted mama kitty, and after raising her babies like the absolute queen she is, she’s finally ready to claim a furever throne of her very own. With her soft pastel coat and expressive tortie eyes, Rhubarb has a quietly captivating presence that you can feel the moment she enters the room.

Rhubarb is the definition of cozy elegance. Give her a plush bed tucked into the purrfect corner, and she’ll happily lounge there like royalty—observing her kingdom, judging nothing, watching everything. She adores being near her humans and will gently seek out head scratches, brushing up against you with gratitude and affection. She’s sweet, she’s soft, she’s serene… right up until she decides it’s time to turn on the charm and follow you around asking for more love.

Of course, as a proper tortie, Rhubarb carries just the right amount of spice in her personality. This 5 year old is loving with a hint of sass, cuddly with a dash of independence, and endlessly endearing in her own unique way. Rhubarb is the purrfect blend of sweetness and attitude, making her a one-of-a-kind companion for someone who adores a kitty with character. Now that her mama days are behind her, this gorgeous girl is ready to settle into the peaceful, pampered, joy-filled life she deserves!

WE'RE HIRING!

Do you love animals, like people, and have the flexibility for the occasional surprise mess that comes with both?

SPCA of the Triad is looking for compassionate, dependable team members to join our Animal Care Team on weekends!

Available Shifts:
Saturday & Sunday• 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM

This isn't just a kennel job. Sure, you'll help care for cats and dogs, but you'll also work alongside volunteers, staff, adopters, and supporters to create happy endings for animals in need.

Think of it this way: part animal caretaker, part matchmaker.

One minute you're cleaning kennels and making sure our animals are happy and healthy. The next, you're helping a family meet their future best friend. There's nothing quite like watching an adoption happen and knowing you helped make it possible.

Animal care experience is preferred, but not required. We're happy to teach the right person.

What we're looking for:
>>18 years or older
>>Willingness to learn
>>Team player attitude
>>Strong work ethic
>>Positive, friendly personality
>>Ability to work with both animals AND people

Send questions, your resume, or your interest to [email protected]
Be sure to put "Love to Join the Team" in the subject line.

Our animals need great people. We hope one of them is you.

🤝 Why Partnerships Matter, Meet Precious – A Story of Love, Loss, and Second Chances

Stories like Precious’s are why partnerships between shelters and rescues are so important. Guilford County Animal Services was able to give her time and care when she needed it most, and SPCA of the Triad was able to step in to continue that support, giving her a second chance.

Precious is a 14-year-old dog whose world was turned upside down through no fault of her own. She was placed at Guilford County Animal Shelter after her owner’s home was condemned, leaving her family with nowhere to go. When our team from SPCA of the Triad was at the shelter transporting new dogs into our care, we met Precious and instantly fell in love. As we learned her story, it became even more clear just how special she is. The shelter went above and beyond, holding all the pets from the property for 10 days to give the families time to secure new housing. When those 10 days passed without a solution, they extended an additional 10 days in hopes of keeping families together. Sadly, despite their efforts, Precious’s family was unable to find housing that would allow them to keep her. With heavy hearts, they made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender her so she could have a chance at a safe and stable future. As soon as we were notified, we immediately went to bring Precious into our care. Precious may be 14 years old, but don’t let that number fool you; she is full of life, love, is fine with other dogs at a recent event and has so much personality. She still has so much joy to give and is ready to spend her golden years in a warm, loving home. Senior dogs like Precious are often overlooked, but they are truly some of the most rewarding companions. She deserves comfort, stability, and a family to call her own again. Precious’s story is a powerful reminder of why partnerships between shelters and rescues are so important.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion and want to make a life-changing difference, please consider giving Precious the second chance she so deeply deserves.
