‼️ATTENTION‼️

Recently we have had quite a few of our posts getting comments with complaints citizens would like to file with our office. While we do our best to keep up with social media, this is not the best place to file a formal report with our office. Comments are easily missed, especially when they are not under our direct post and under shares of it. Please call 706-454-7039 to file any formal reports/complaints that you would like our office to look into.

Thank you!

‼️ATTENTION‼️

Update: We have all four dogs caught at this time.

Update: We have three of the four caught, working on getting the last one.

We are aware of four dogs that have been reported on Forks Rd. We have one caught, and have traps set for the remaining three. Please do NOT tamper with or move any traps, if you see a dog has gone into a trap feel free to call our office and make us aware, although we do frequent checks through the day. Please do NOT attempt to catch, coerce, or pick up these dogs. Our office is working diligently to capture them in our humane traps, and any unnecessary human interaction can hinder that process greatly.

Thank you!

Buckwheat broke outta here!

After being with us for over two months, Buckwheat caught his freedom ride with Humane Society for Greater Savannah! We cannot thank them enough for making the trip up to pull him from our facility and giving him this chance. We know he is going to do great and make someone the best pet ever!

National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week is this week, April 12-18th, and we want to highlight the ones who make it happen around our county!

For Greene County Animal Control, we would like to highlight Officer Harrison, who this year will have 24 years of service for this department, which is an amazing feat, Officer Wiggins who as of today, has been with Greene County for 7 years total, and will hit 5 years of service with GCAC later this year, as well as Kennel Tech Bentley who just surpassed her one year mark with us. Day in and day out they dedicate and sacrifice to make sure this department runs as smooth as possible, that all the animals in the county are cared for, and that citizens are being heard and educated on any issues that may arise. Without their services Greene County could not be what it is today!

We would also like to show our appreciation for our fellow ACOs around this county, Mr. Will Wright at Union Point Animal Control, as well as Nerocus Peaks with Greensboro Animal Control. These gentlemen have been a pleasure for our office to work with in any cases that may overlap jurisdictions. Keep doing great things!

‼️MEL HAS BEEN FOUND‼️

***We are happy to announce that Mel was found at the 146MM on I20 and is safe at this time!

We are asking that all of our Greene County citizens, neighbors, and visitors passing through our county to keep an eye out for Mel, a sweet dog who went missing after a tragic wreck on I20W at MM143 yesterday afternoon.

If you should see Mel, please contact the number listed on the photo, our office at 706-454-7039, Greene County Georgia Sheriff's Office or Greene County E911.

We have had numerous calls today in reference to her missing, so please know we are aware, our office has been out numerous times yesterday, as well as today, and we plan to continue to do so in search of her. Our hope is to find her safe and sound and get her home. 🩷
