🐾 Spay & Neuter Grant Update! 🐾

Thanks to your support, Karin 4 Kritters has made real progress in the fight against pet overpopulation! In partnership with Terrell Veterinary Clinic, here's what we've accomplished over the last two months:

🐕 Dog Spays: 21
🐕 Dog Neuters: 10
🐈 Cat Spays: 44
🐈 Cat Neuters: 42

That's 117 animals fixed — and it matters more than the number alone suggests. A single unspayed female cat and her descendants can theoretically produce hundreds of kittens within just a few years, and an unspayed female dog and her descendants can add dozens more puppies in that same window. Multiply that across the number of female animals we spayed in this round alone, and we've likely prevented thousands of unplanned kittens and puppies from ever being born. And male stray cats will move around making babies as long as he can.

Accidental litters are a real problem here in West Tennessee. Our local shelters and pounds are already full — often over capacity — with puppies and kittens that were never planned for and have nowhere to go. Every animal we fix today is one less litter added to that number tomorrow.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Cunningham and the entire team at Terrell Veterinary Clinic. This was my very first state spay/neuter grant, and they showed us so much patience and grace as we learned the ropes together. We couldn't have asked for a better partner to walk through this process with us — thank you for believing in this mission and for all the care you've given these animals. 🙏💙

We do have some remaining costs from this round that we're still working to cover, so if you're able to chip in to help us close that gap — or to fund more surgeries for animals still waiting — every dollar goes straight back into keeping West TN pets healthy and shelters a little less full.

I never dreamed that in eight months time we would have seen this many people and their pets. Greenfield and the surrounding communities have blessed us in ways that I cannot begin to describe. You all have welcomed us with open arms.

We would like to show our gratitude by doing a customer appreciation give-away. Please post your favorite picture of your dog or cat to be entered to win a gift basket. The dog and the cat with the most likes will win. Winners will be announced September 1st.

We would like to remind everyone of hour daily hours.

We close from 12:00pm - 1:00pm daily for lunch.

We are open from 8:00am - 12:00pm the first and third Saturdays of the month.

We do ask that you call to schedule an appointment if at all possible. As we get busier, we would like to make sure your pet gets the dedicated time they deserve. We also have an extremely small lobby and scheduling an appointment will ensure that there are no scuffles between pets in our lobby. Emergencies such as an animal being hit by a car, an animal that is excessive bleeding, an animal unable to urinate, an animal having a seizure, etc. are excluded from needing an appointment. Please if you are able call ahead, so that we can prepare for your arrival.

Thanks everyone who was kind to our staff and Dr. Cox, today. Amanda, Carly, and I have sat through roughly 10 hours each of lecture over the course of the last 2-3 days. We cannot wait to share what we’ve learned and the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.

DOG SPAY & NEUTER VOUCHERS
Where? our shelter (21822 Hwy 22 in McKenzie).

Please read the original post for complete details. Most questions will be answered.

-Vouchers are $`60 each for either spays (females) or neuters (males).

-These vouchers are only for use at Huntingdon Animal Clinic and we will make the appointment for you at the time of the voucher purchase. All appointment availability is on Mondays.

-Appointment availability is October and November.

-We will accept exact change or a card payment only.

-Dogs must be a minimum of 12 weeks old and we heavily encourage that they receive vaccines before their appointment. Small breeds should meet a minimum weight requirement of at least 4 lbs.

-These appointments fill up quickly. We encourage you to make sure you can attend the appointment before making it and do not try to make an appointment for a dog that is heavily pregnant.

-Because these fill up quickly, there will be NO rescheduling.

-Vouchers are nonrefundable. These cover the cost of surgery only. They do not cover the cost of pain medication or other medical procedures.

-Carroll, Henry and Weakley County residents only. Please provide proof of residency. (License, mail, etc).

-Yes, we have cat vouchers. Always. `$65. Paris Vet Clinic. Call 731-514-0878.

-Dog vouchers are sold in person only at CCHS.

-You will need to know the approximate age, breed (a guess is ok!), color and name of the dog as well as provide a good contact number for the person responsible for the pet.

-Finally...you do not need to bring the dog with you to purchase the voucher.

-There is a limit of 5 per household.

Our cat spay/neuter special was such a success in April that we decided to do it again in September. Let us help you curb overpopulation in your neighborhood. Cat spays will be $75. Cat neuters will be $60. We ask that all cats are in some sort of inescapable carrier or live trap. We really don’t want to have to chase kitties around outside or in the office. We can even handle feral kitties, but have special instructions for those. Call our office at 731-678-0040 to schedule your appointment, today. ****We will not respond to Facebook requests/messages to schedule an appointment. ****

Meet Gerald and my third son, Owen. I picked Gerald up on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere about two weeks ago. He and other kitties like him inspire me to help stop overpopulation. It takes all of us.
