Every day I talk about spay and neuter because this crisis does not fix itself. I know it may not be the most exciting thing to watch compared to pulling a dog from a shelter, saving a medical case, or touching a heartbreaking rescue story. But if we really care about the future, prevention matters more than reaction.

To fix this crisis, we have to create a culture. A culture where spay and neuter becomes normal, expected, and understood. And that comes with education. Every new household we reach, every conversation we have, every person we help understand why this matters — that’s how change spreads.

People ask why I push this so hard. Because rescue alone will never catch up. Transport alone will never catch up. Shelters will never catch up if the cycle keeps repeating. Spay and neuter is the only thing that actually slows the suffering before it starts.

And honestly? The goal should be to put ourselves out of business. Every rescue, every transporter, including myself. That should be the dream — fewer homeless animals, fewer unwanted litters, fewer dogs dying in shelters, fewer emergencies to clean up later.

Spay and neuter can reduce the need for transport. It can reduce overcrowded shelters. It can reduce suffering long before rescue ever has to step in. But transport and rescue alone can never stop the crisis without prevention.

This work may not always go viral. It may not always get attention. But it matters more for the long run than most people realize. ~ Robbie Miller

Mother’s love brings down state’s biggest puppy mill. In rural Missouri. Drivers kept calling about an Australian Shepherd sprinting down the highway like she was chasing something. Animal control tried to stop her, but every time they got close, she broke away and kept running. After nearly 20 miles, they realized she wasn’t chasing traffic. She was chasing one white van.

When that van finally stopped, the dog ran straight to the back doors and started jumping, crying, and clawing like her life depended on it. Officers searched it and found cages stacked inside, packed with Australian Shepherd puppies. Some of them were hers. Investigators believe she had escaped the puppy mill and chased the van down herself, leading police back to the property where dozens more dogs were rescued and one of the state’s biggest illegal puppy rings was shut down. She didn’t know she was exposing a crime. She just knew her babies were in that van.
