Fireworks aren't fun for everyone! Many pets become distressed during these celebrations, so be sure to have a plan!
Provide your pet with a comfortable area that is quiet. You can run a fan or a constant noise machine to help make the fireworks less startling. Provide your pet with enrichment, such as a toy or a kong with treats. Always make sure that pets are properly identified with collars/tags and a microchip in case they ever become separated from you.
Some pets are still just too scared and benefit from anxiety medications/sedation for events like these. We recommend calling your vet to discuss this. Remember, if we haven't seen your pet in the last year or they aren't up to date on a Rabies vaccine, we need to see them to prescribe medications, so don't wait until the last minute! Call early to make sure we can help! 607-656-4285
