There’s always an opportunity to keep learning and refining our skills!

Our doctors recently participated in a hands-on orthopedic wet lab right here at GVV led by Dr. Mary Bergh, Wisconsin’s only double board-certified specialist in small animal surgery (DACVS) and canine sports medicine and rehabilitation (DACVSMR)and owner of Midwest Veterinary Specialists. With some very cooperative staff-owned dogs as their patients, they honed their orthopedic examination skills, including evaluating for patellar luxation, drawer motion associated with cranial cruciate ligament injuries, tendon concerns, and sources of muscle pain.

Ongoing education and skill development are important parts of how we continue providing excellent care for our patients. We’re also incredibly grateful for our partnership with Dr. Bergh, who visits Greendale Village Vet once a month to perform orthopedic surgeries for patients who need them.

Thank you, Dr. Bergh, for sharing your expertise-and thank you to our four-legged wet lab volunteers!

When pets continue to struggle with excess weight despite a healthy diet, an underlying medical condition may be contributing.

Cora’s family was committed to helping their Sheltie mix lose weight, especially as the extra pounds increased the strain on her painful joints. When testing eventually revealed hypothyroidism, the right treatment helped Cora achieve significant improvements in her weight, energy and overall health.

Her journey is a valuable reminder to look beyond diet and exercise when weight management isn’t producing the expected results.
