🐾 Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 🩺❤️
Veterinary technicians are absolutely essential to keeping any veterinary practice running, and Amanda is no exception! I don't think most people realize just how much veterinary technicians actually do, both for our patients and behind the scenes. Honestly, they deserve a whole lot more recognition for it.
They're intubating patients, monitoring anesthesia, scaling and polishing teeth, placing IV catheters, drawing blood, giving vaccines, and catching the little details that the rest of us might miss.
They're also tracking down the otoscope I've indiscriminately left somewhere in the clinic for the 15th time that day. (Seriously, where does that thing go?)
They're cuddling your nervous pet, comforting them as they wake up from anesthesia, explaining complicated medical concepts in ways that make sense, celebrating the good news, and being a shoulder to cry on when the news isn't so good.
They're doing a hundred things you see and a hundred more you don't.
Veterinary technicians are highly skilled medical professionals, patient advocates, problem-solvers, educators, and often the glue holding an entire veterinary team together.
And while veterinarians often get much of the recognition, there's an extraordinary amount of medicine and compassionate care happening both in front of you and behind the scenes because of our technicians.
So this week, I want to give a special shout-out to our wonderful Amanda at Paws & Co, as well as every incredible technician I've had the privilege of working alongside throughout my career.
You make us better veterinarians. You make our clinics better places. Most importantly, you make an enormous difference in the lives of our patients.
You deserve to be seen, appreciated, and recognized for just how much you know and how much you do.
Thank you for all of it. ❤️🐾
