It has been a bit quiet on this page. But, we have some exciting news!

Honey is laying eggs! Will be removing and incubating them tomorrow as she is still actively laying! The estimate is 4 eggs but will upload a picture tomorrow of the actual count.

Snakes going into burmation this year for breeding next year!

You may wonder, what is burmation? Well it is the time reptiles go into dormancy a state similar to hibernation during winter. During this time they barely move and don't eat. Oncebit starts warming up they come out of hiding and go searching for a mate and food as spring. Due to this its important to burmate them for breeding.

Below is the names, species and morphs of each snake pictured and being placed into burmation!

Angel (western hognose, super Conda, het snow)
Chocolate (western hognose, axanthic pos het snow)
Grain (Checkered garter snake, granite albino)
Realm (Checkered garter, albino)
Star (Oregeon red spotted garter)
Red (Oregeon red spotted garter)

Hello everyone! We finally have a logo! Many thanks to the wonderful artist Scarlett Rose Nightshade for making this logo for us! Now that we have an offical we are renaming the page for the last time.

We are excited to welcome you all officially to Within the Hollow!

A name inspired by my trips while herping out in nature. Since one of the go to places to always find salamanders, snakes, lizard and more has been under logs and pieces of fallen tree bark.

We have some big news coming soon! With an offical logo and will soon be posting our first YouTube video!

For now I would like to introduce the mother of one of Malaysian Cat Geckos (Aeluroscalabotes felinus) and a breeder of mine. Below is the enclosure and a picture of her as I did some remodeling of the enclosure.

These guys in my personal opinion tend to be a bit underrated. I love their personalities and looks. This species originates from Malaysia and are insectivores which means insect eaters. They are unique in the sense that unlike other reptiles and amphians that require constant dosing of calcium and vitamins. They are unable to consume high levels of these due to how sensitive they are. Its best to gut load their feeders with these instead of dusting and also need strictly RO or Distilled water.

If you guys are interested in a video focused on these guys please let me know! Questions are also welcome!

Another one of my projects I haven't show is western hognose! I have a pair that is old enough to breed that should hopefully produce some snows if my male proves out!

Babies I'll be hoping from the pair will be:
Normals
Conda normals
Axanthic
Conda axanthic
Snow
Conda snow

The snow has been proven out by the female so we are just hoping he does too!

Fun fact about western hognoses. These guys are rear fanged and mildly venomous without siginificant risk. What that means is they have small fangs on the back of their mouth. There venom effects is more similar to a bee sting if you allow them to chew on you. Although care is reccomended if you are allergic to bee stings.

For various tropical species one of the most important things is live plants. This is especially true for dart frogs keepers as they thrive in bioactive set ups. Here we personally never us any chemicals or fertilizers to grow the plants. All of them are grown on a natural tropical dirt mix I make which makes these plants safe for animal enclosures.

Last night was repotting, taking cuttings night. Once rooted, there will be monstera, pothos and lucky bamboo available.

Currently we only have star moss available which is pictured below. Its a perfect plant for high humidity set ups in 80-100% humidity. Feel free to message or comment below to find out more about it or any other plants grown with us!

Baby mourning geckos! These past 2 days we have been having various being born. We have gotten normals, yellow bellied and d types hatched so far and raising up.

Whenever we have these they always take heavy amount of care in ensuring constant access to food, misting as needed so they can drink water and making sure humidity is just right. Currently the ones in the picture are ready for a slightly bigger set up to offer pangea in and get them started on on pangea not just fruit flies.

Fun fact!

Mourning geckos are one of the smaller gecko species to keep and are parthenogenetic! Meaning all of them are genetically female and are a copy of mom. Rarely are males born but when they are they have been found to be infertile.

Hello everyone! I wanted to address a few things in regards to the inactivity of the page and the goals moving forward.

In the past few months and since I started the page I was balancing both a job and college while running this page and business as a hobby. During that time I was located near Lansing MI. Going to the local shows and getting to meet other breeders and customers. I graduated last year with my degree and the business has moved to Green Bay WI area.

During this time I have been trying to figure out the shows around the area, balance 2 jobs and organize things after the move. This impacted my ability to post constantly as I tried to get a routine back into my life.

Now I feel I am at that spot where I am figuring out the balance and ready to resume managing the page to a more consistent level. The plans moving forward involve future youtube channel, weekly posts in hopes to move to daily posts eventually and posts that don't just mention the animals that are looking for a place. But to also include more educational content, a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes and hopefully more interactions with those who follow me.

I appreciate and am happy I have gotten to meet some of the people who have followed my page and supported my goals. I hope to share the youtube channel and website soon. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to comment or message.
