This sweet face is Kaylee. She’s 15!

🫧Grooming seniors takes patience, slow movements, and an intentional curated process to their specific needs.

🐾What’s nice about having a regular groomer is that the groomer can establish a relationship over time, and help ease stress into the dogs senior years.

🧼 Proper products also help ease stress during the groom. In Kaylee’s case, a good conditioner soaks and loosens the tangles.

💈Then, a proper drying technique helps blast through matting, limiting the amount of tugging with brushes and other groom tools.

👵👴As dogs age, they are no different then us humans. Their skin thins, they can become frail, skinnier, and their mobility in handling the groom process is compromised.

✂️ Seniors are higher risk for injury during the groom. (Due to the above reasons) This is why it’s important to have a groomer/salon that believes in humanity over vanity. Sometimes grooms can’t be completed, or aren’t as “stylish” as previous grooms.

Ace was in for his first professional grooming. His dad recently adopted him. He did great! 💜 He romped around after, and played with a toy. 😊

That handful of fur is BEFORE I even started the first round of the bath session with product. It was JUST the initial rinse off.
This is why proper technique, and product make a big difference in the fur removal
process.

💦 Give a good rinse, and saturate coat down to the skin. (this was the stage that initiaI handful of fur came out)

🫧 Conditioner first! Oils break up oils.
* smooth coat dogs can produce up to 30% more oils, than long haired dogs. It’s to protect the skin, due to their lack of a thicker coat.

🧼 Then shampoo. Shampoo is a cleanser.
⏰ TIME MATTERS! The molecules in the product need time to grab the dirt, and do its job effectively.

💧Rinse shampoo out.

🫧Conditioner again. This is to help replenish oils that were removed during the shampoo process. (detergents/shampoo strips the oils)

‼️Skipping this step will dry out the skin, and the body will over produce more oils creating an imbalance.

🐶🛁 Ace was in the tub for 45min total.
(Additional time for drying/brushing/nails/ears cleaned)

🚨📢 CALLING ALL BATH DOGS!! 🐶 🚨
BIG NEWS!

Starting October 16th, FOR THE DOGS LLC, is adding a grooming assistant/bather. 🤗🥳 ONLY FRIDAYS to start. I’ll be doing a full introduction soon, but we need to start gett’n doggies on the books, so she can stay busy.

🙋‍♀️ She shares the passion for keeping dogs comfortable, and providing loving care while tending to their hygiene needs.

TO INQUIRE OR BOOK:

📝THINGS TO NOTE-
1️⃣ She is only able to do dogs receiving JUST BATH packages, NO scissor or clipper work.
2️⃣ ONLY booking appointments on FRIDAYS.
3️⃣ Time starting at 8am, and last at 2pm.
4️⃣ Messages will be returned within 24hours (during the work week) Keep in mind, as of now it’s a one woman show over here. 😜 Please, be patient.💜🐾

😴 Macy takes naps EVERY TIME she’s in for grooming, while she waits her turn. Snoring away too. She was even barking in a dream today 😆
We had a good run growing her out for a more traditional springer clip.
However, her furnishings were gett’n wild. She prefers being a low maintenance gal 😜
Her little sister Echo just got a Bath Brush/freshen up.

⏰SOAK TIME, is necessary! Even with non medicated/Rx shampoos. The shampoo acts as the detergent/cleanser, and the molecules need time to “grab” the dirt before rinsing.
☹️ Unfortunately, over my years in the industry, I’ve seen groomers not use products within the product label. Also, a lot of salons are high volume, and push the number of dogs per day. The soak time during the process just isn’t a priority.
🔬However, it’s science. This is WHY it’s important to have a groomer that continues education, and provides services that are most beneficial ‘for the dogs’.
🧴Also, it’s important to MOISTURIZE with conditioner after shampoos, because the detergents/medicated shampoos are drying to the skin barrier.
‼️A dry, damaged skin barrier is the gateway to multiple problems.

❤️‍🩹After some time to mend hearts, 3 existing clients opened their hearts to a new addition again. 2 babies got big girl/boy haircuts, and 1 got a freshen up.

🛁The first groom experience is very much, see what they will allow without pushing it. Main goal is to get the little babies used to the process. 💜

✂️I recommend starting any time after the second round of vaccines, given at 12 weeks.
Especially, if you have a haircut dog that will need to be groomed regularly its whole life.
