Luna was in today for a refresh spa day. I was told she’s been a nervous girl in the past for her grooms.
I’m happy to report, once we got started she eased into the process.😄
You can even see the shift in her pictures.

📚✂️🐶 There are 2 expos I’ve had the pleasure of attending in the past couple years. Unfortunately, this year I was unable to attend either. 😔 (they over lapped this year too, and happening right now)
🛜 I did however, get registered for 2 days of online seminars focusing on health topics regarding senior dogs specifically. 💜 😃
-SuperZoo, held in Las Vegas, I attended in 2024. It’s a Show that encompasses the entire pet industry. I took 2 full days of grooming related classes, taught by leaders in the industry. I was able to sneak away only briefly to the show floor, to visit a vender booth I was really excited about, and got some new tools! 💜 A groom competition was in progress too. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy more of the show floor, but my time there was solely for the education.
-All American Grooming Show, held in Schaumburg IL, is the longest running GROOMING ONLY show. I attended last year. I drove in specifically for a skin and coat certificate class. It was 4 hours long, and I was IN LOVE 😍 It blended my love for grooming with the science of the VetMed stuff I geek out about. That sparked me signing up for the first section of the Pet Skin Academy. I since have completed, and passed! 🥳

When a dog comes in that’s getting a shorter trim, a pre-clip is done before the bath. This is done to speed the bathing and dry process. For some older dogs the bath and blow dry can be stressful parts of the groom process, and the dogs comfort is always priority.
🐶Little Meka (below) is 14 years old. I've been grooming her, basically, her whole life. 💜 She received a full bath, a fluff dry, and then the finish clip could be done. 😃 She’s a pro at the process, and did great.

🛁Buckley was in for his refresh groom today, but sadly his older brother, Jackson, crossed the rainbow bridge since their last time in the salon. It was strange going from the shenanigans of the duo, down to a solo appointment. 😭💔There are no words. It sucks!

Doing a proper technique to remove dead undercoat in the bath means:
🐶Less stress tugging with brushes, and allowing product, and and water pressure to do most of the work.
🐶Proper conditioning and products to seal follicles, moisturize, and shine coat.
🤪 Her under coat was pretty packed down, and dirty. Removing that is key to getting down to the skin for a proper wash 💦 I did equivalent to about 4 rounds of the bath, and spent (no joke) an hour in the tub.
🏕️She lives an active life outdoors, and the spa isn’t at top of her things preferred. 😆
Removing as much undercoat in the tub keeps it from blowing around the room, and both of us breathing it in. Plus, it speeds dry time.
😄I was very pleased with how patient she was for her spa day. 💜

The duality of life. No life, without death. No happiness, without sadness.
I was happy to hang with Jake today while he was in for his groom 💜 However, I’m sad it’s his first time in alone since losing his sister, Abby, whom accompanied him. 😭
Rest easy sweet girl. ✨ 🌈
