Some things I would tell dog owners if I stopped trying to sound nice, with no specific dog or owner in mind.

A lot of dogs are miserable because their owners humanized them into instability.

Some of you are so afraid of upsetting your dog that you’ve created a dog that cannot function.

There is nothing noble about ignoring reality because the truth feels uncomfortable.

Loving dogs does not automatically mean that you understand dogs.

Working dogs are not beginner dogs, ever.

Dogs are suffering from being humanized beyond recognition. They’re treated like emotional support systems, accessories, replacements for human relationships instead of animals with genetic drives, needs, instincts and limits.

Not every person who wants to should own a dog.

Keeping severely unstable, dangerous or genetically unsound dogs alive at all costs is not always ethical.

High energy and high drive are not the same thing.

People will defend their dogs bad behavior because admitting it’s a problem means admitting they allowed or created it.

Dogs were not designed to live their entire lives in houses and backyards.

The best relationships dogs have aren’t built on constant affection.
