Skokie Valley Kennel Club Since 1934, The SVKC is an American Kennel Club (AKC) member club and registered as a not for profit organization.

Each year we host an all breed dog show featuring conformation, obedience, and rally. Our members welcome newcomers and those who are interested in dogs, and our shows are designed to makedog shows a fun, interesting and educational experience for exhibitors and spectators. We’ve gotten a lot of messages about FastCAT and concerns about the storms approaching the area.

FastCAT runs in ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS other than LIGHTNING!

⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️

If lightning is in the area and it strikes we will go into a 30 min delay after each strike to allow the storm to move out of the area.

As it states in the premium there’s no refunds and you run at your own risk.

Weather for Friday and Saturday look more dry but will be super hot!

It is your responsibility to keep dogs cool, and contained so please take extra care precautions. Signs of heat stroke in dogs are
-excessive panting
-sticky drool
-bright red/pale gums
-vomiting
-wobbly movements

Cool dogs down by soaking their paws and belly’s with cool water. Try to have water buckets and bowls filled constantly if crating outside.

We will have pools and other cooling elements for our 4 and 2 legged friends.

Despite the weather, we can’t wait to see you all for a great show! Time blocks will be flexible to accommodate conflicts and concerns.

We will be taking Day of Show entries on Thursday and Friday at $32/run.

Hesitant your dog can do it?

NO PROBLEM!

Do a Fun Run for $5! A fun run is an inexpensive way to introduce new dogs to the sport! The “fun” part is you can do things you can’t normally do in a competitive run. Like
-walk up the middle of the course
-run 1/2 the length (or less for puppies)
-run 2+ dogs at once
-no AKC number required

“What if it’s raining? What if it’s hot?!”

Plan accordingly! We run in all weather EXCEPT LIGHTNING! If lightning is in the area we will go into a 30 min delay.

We will have a small cooling station outside for our athletes. Humans and entered dogs are welcome inside the building if they are well behaved (children as well, parents watch your littles)

Feel free to stay and watch our rings or shop our vendors!

Parking is $10 at the gate. We take card, checks, or cash at the field.

***EDIT: We would like to remind our competitors that releasers are not guaranteed for EVERY dog. Lately the need for releasers has increased but volunteers have decreased. Volunteer releasers have the power to say “no” to releasing any dog they are not comfortable with.

If you need a releaser, talk to your fellow competitors about helping you. Or better yet, offer to release for someone else in need! Volunteers help run our event and keep things running smoothly! (Thank them when you can!)***
