Almost 4 years ago Meaghan, my dad and I set out for a 24 hour round trip to get Saxy from a holding pen in Pennsylvania.
Meg had come to me with Saxys story and a desire to help her find a new, safe home. I remember texting her “okay I’m down. Let’s bring her home and we will figure out the rest later.”
We watched as news of Saxys story made air time on 207 Maine. We had strangers dropping off donations with tear filled eyes, thanking us for saving her. New and old friends came for years to spend time with her and Meg used her to help give therapy to so many greatful humans.
But The real truth has always been, that Saxy saved all of us. She showed us that through kindness, understanding and a whole lot of love anything is possible.
Today we laid Saxy to rest- right next to her mom. Not many horses get this ending. To be surrounded by people who always did the best by them and to be eternally resting with their mom. Every part of Saxys story was so perfectly written and unique. We will miss her messy nose in the morning and her great hugs; and we will always remember everything she so freely gave to us. ❤️
