Temperatures will be on the rise by the middle of this upcoming week. Highs of 85 to 90 coupled with very high humidity will send heat index readings well into the 90s to potentially near 100 away from and outside of any thunderstorms that develop. The Heat Risk map shows Thursday's heat potential, with moderate to major heat impacts possible, impacting especially heat-sensitive individuals. If storm chances increase, widespread heat impacts would be lessened, so monitor the latest forecast information.

**Questions About Algae and W**d Treatments**

The Big Pine Island Lake Association Board understands that the current algae conditions, as well as several large w**d bed areas, are frustrating for many residents. We share those concerns.

The Big Pine Island Lake Association ("Lake Association") does not regulate aquatic w**d or algae treatments. We do, however, monitor water quality. Board member Dawn Hoffman does an excellent job coordinating that effort on behalf of our lake community.

The funds collected through Grattan Township for w**d control are administered by the Big Pine Island Lake Improvement Board ("Lake Improvement Board"). The Lake Improvement Board works with professional consultants and contractors to manage treatment activities on the lake. They are currently using the same consultant and contractor that have served the lake for several years.

The Lake Association's role is to help keep residents informed by sharing information we receive from the Lake Improvement Board, consultants, contractors, and other sources related to the health and enjoyment of our lake.

Questions regarding treatment schedules, effectiveness, permitting, application methods, or lake management decisions are best directed to the Lake Improvement Board and its contractors, as they oversee those activities.

Residents with questions regarding treatment activities may also contact Rick Buteyn at Progressive Companies directly at **[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])**.

The Lake Association is a volunteer organization supported by member dues. While we advocate for the lake and work to keep residents informed, we do not have the authority to direct or approve lake treatment activities.

We will continue sharing information as it becomes available and appreciate everyone's patience, understanding, and commitment to keeping Big Pine Island Lake a great place to live and enjoy.

🚨 CALLING ALL BIG PINE ISLAND LAKE BOATERS! 🚨
Can we fill the lake with enough red, white, and blue to celebrate America's 250th Birthday in style? πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸš€
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸš€ BIG PINE ISLAND LAKE... LET'S CELEBRATE! πŸš€πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

This year marks America's 250th Birthday, and what better way to celebrate than with a patriotic boat parade around Big Pine Island Lake!

Decorate your pontoon, fishing boat, ski boat, kayak, or anything that floats in your best red, white, and blue. Wave your flags, gather your family and friends, and help us create a parade the entire lake will remember.

Whether you're participating in the parade, competing for the Most Patriotic Boat Award, or simply watching from shore, this is a great opportunity to come together as a lake community and celebrate the freedoms we enjoy.

A special thank you to Renee and Doug Swaney for volunteering to organize this event for all lake residents. BPILA is proud to help support and promote this community celebration.
